Hollywood What If Chapter 167

[I failed to watch The Bourne Identity today. I'll watch it tomorrow instead...]

"Abubububu!"

Kazir made funny faces in front of his niece who was kicking her feet in the air and giggling innocently. 

The baby was cute and Kazir obviously liked his niece. He was happy to see an innocent baby untainted by the world. 

He felt like all of his stress this past few days was gone while playing with his niece. 

"How is Alissa?"

Aaron showed up and checked the two. 

"She's cute."

"Of course, she's a baby. What do you expect? A gremlin?"

Aaron passed a bottle of beer to him. 

"Sort of."

"You bastard--"

Aaron's wife glanced at him when he cursed. It would be detrimental for the kid to hear bad words while young. 

"Aaron, help me with the turkey."

"Okay, honey~"

Like a bee serving his queen, Aaron stood up and went into the kitchen. 

"Goo Goo, ga ga."

Kazir looked at his niece who was lying on her baby bed. The baby was waving her hands at the door. She was smiling, very adorable. 

Kazir smiled at her. He had a chance to be a father but fate was cruel to him. 

Yet now that he was a successful director, Kazir was still afraid to start a family. He knew that he was a busy person and he was not sure if he could make his family happy. 

In the first place, the reason why Cassandra cheated on him was because he was always busy. 

In the end, he was not sure about this part of his life. Well, he was living happily, and having a baby might bring him another source of stress. 

He deemed that watching a cute baby and taking care of a baby were different things. 

Suddenly, baby Alissa burped and white saliva flew to her baby dress. 

"Um, guys, I think your baby spit on her dress."

"Is that so? Kazir, can you help her burp?"

"... I don't know how to do that," Kazir replied honestly. 

"Sigh, you insignificant guy who only knows how to make movies! You don't even know how to help a baby burp?"

"Yes." Kazir nodded. To be honest, he was afraid to carry the kid.

"Honey, just do it yourself."

Aaron stopped what he was doing after her wife glared at him. He approached the baby and carried her in his arms, against his chest. Then, he gently patted the baby's back. 

The baby burped a few seconds later, and both her mother and father celebrated because she burped... Even Kazir was happy. In a way, Alissa was like an animal being adored by big adult monkeys. 

While in her father's arms, Alissa waved her hands at the door for the second time. 

Just like that, someone knocked on the door. The three adults paused. 

Kazir was the least busy one so he stood up and opened the door. He found his father at the entrance. 

"Dad!"

"Kazir!"

The two hugged each other. After that, his father put down his belongings. Most of the stuff he brought were toys for a baby girl. Obviously, he dotes his granddaughter very well. 

This Christmas was simple but wholesome. 

Kazir spent his whole week in New York. He was interested in buying some properties in this place but he decided to wait for the dot-com bubble burst.

He was not a heartless person and the employees of Grey Pictures had a vacation just like him. The company was only working at the minimum to keep it going since most employees were on vacation. 

On New Year's Eve, Kazir decided to talk about his meeting with his mother. 

"I see... So your Mom really showed up."

Their father became quiet and sighed. Perhaps he was blaming himself for what happened to his family. 

"Dad, it's not your fault" Aaron tried to make things better but Kazir's Father, Victor Grey, shook his head. 

"No, it's my fault too. I was busy at that time... Your Mom was very depressed when she was pregnant with you. When she was going to give birth, I was at a business meeting in Japan and it was already too late when I returned. Perhaps that was the start of our relationship collapsing..."

He could not help but smile. In truth, he wanted to keep and maintain his family but Eliza Cohen deemed it over. 

"I'm just trying to give you a better future..."

"..."

His two sons became quiet. They were influenced by alcohol and they were very emotional. 

"I can't blame you if you have your mother. But just remember that she is the one who gave birth to you. You should be thankful, just like how I'm thankful that I have you as my children."

The fireworks started exploding in the sky, signaling that the new year arrived. 

The three Greys looked at the fireworks in the sky, hoping that this year would be a prosperous year for everyone. 

Just like that, the year 1999 arrived. 

Kazir returned to Los Angeles and continued the project. The crew was going to fly to France to film the first part of the movie. In fact, Renner Hector and his team were already there to survey the locations they were going to use. Some of them collected some possible background shots and sent them to Kazir to let him choose. 

Before going to France, Kazir had another thing to do-- watch the premier of Meet The Parents. The movie will be released in the 3rd week of January. 

Not only Paramount, but even other film companies were interested in this movie. Disney tried to buy this specific movie and everyone knew it. The result of this movie would determine Kazir's future as a scriptwriter.
