Aalam

Aalam took a second to center himself as Mila broke the God of War’s bond with the Primordial Sovereign so Aalam could take over the god’s Territory, including three of the seven universes that connected his former empire to the Prime Material. Then, only having a few minutes before he collapsed from the strain of the power he was still using, Aalam teleported four of Mila’s clones out from his Personal Storage soulstructure and raced to the universe where they’d previously been planning to trap the Primordial Humans.

Thanks for your help, Xara.” He sent to the Yin Yang Sage, who appeared to be decompressing back in her own home within his soulbound afterlife, laying on a large couch in the center of an ostentatious giant mansion that took up half of an entire planet. “I couldn’t have done that without you.

No, you couldn’t have.” His ancestor’s voice sounded just as exhausted as she looked. “But you don’t need to thank me. I take care of my apprentices. It’s what a master should do.

Yeah.” Aalam smiled as he looked at the main body of his master, asleep in the bedroom of her divine residence within his personal storage, resting after giving most of her power to her clone and then sacrificing it. “I know.

She’d be at a hundred percent again within a few days. Two of her skills and three of her racial abilities were designed around making just such a sacrificial technique work without lasting repercussions.

But it was the first time she’d used it and they hadn’t accounted for just how exhausting it would be.

Still,” he continued, maintaining his conversation with the Yin Yang Sage, “I am mostly thankful you didn’t try to take over my body. I’ve been kind of looking forward to reviving you.

Nana Xara was silent as she looked up at the ceiling of the room she was in, but the absolute control Aalam had over his afterlife made it easy to read her emotions, so he knew she was nervous.

He didn’t care much, however. The woman had been attracted by his power, and there was nothing wrong with that, at least not in Aalam’s worldview. She hadn’t attempted anything and hadn’t actually wanted to hurt him, giving him back control of his body without any desire not to. And her emotions about wanting to protect his wife had been genuine. So, in Aalam’s weighing of the woman, she’d risen several levels.

He wouldn’t tell her that, however.

He had learned at least a little over ten thousand years of being married to Mila.

Wade

Q Wade, the oldest of the Prime Material’s reaper gods known as the Origin of Death by the System, looked at his wife, Q Vora, before turning his head to look at the twins his wife had carried to term after the Primordial Sovereign repeatedly raped her, then at the twins’ younger brother. All three of the Thunderer’s children had just had their auras weaken, like oaths they’d made had been broken, and Wade was very tempted to kill them all.

His wife had tried multiple times over the trillions of years the twins had been alive to form a connection with them, her nature as a natural born healer unable to let her stop even given the horrible circumstances around their birth, and it had long sickened Wade just how bad the two had always treated her.

He held himself back, however, for two main reasons.

First, his wife was next to him, along with seventeen other gods from their faction, so there was no chance of him assassinating them without her finding out.

And, more important, second, the divine residence that was supposed to be floating in the section of space they were all now occupying was no longer there.

Combined with the oaths of the Primordial Humans being broken, something was going on. Wade just had no idea what. And Karvac Nomen’ha, the Divine Seer, one of only two living gods with the Prophet divine role, appeared just as confused, and that was terrifying.

When the Divine Seer didn’t understand something, it meant unknown knowledge was involved, the man only able to not see through plots when he was missing pieces of information, and Wade didn’t like missing information when other gods were involved.

There was definitely some form of trap.

Then, just when he was considering grabbing his wife and son and running away, the trap sprung and it was a whole lot simpler than he expected.

The Heavenly Spark Soul King appeared in his senses, radiating full Divine rank energy, and he zoomed past most of the gods in the area at a speed Wade at least couldn’t match, somehow infused with what felt like half a divine role of the Messenger on top of at least three other Divine grade self boosting skills.

The B rank rushed directly toward the twins and their younger brother, ignoring everyone else, and cut the Master of the Eternal Forge in half with his sword, somehow killing the god with one strike.

Sure, the Master of the Eternal Forge had seemingly fallen to the power of an A rank, so it wasn’t too much of a feat, something Wade could do just as easily, but it still shocked everyone for a fraction of a second, and, in that fraction of a second, the Heavenly Spark Soul King summoned out a God rank sealing artifact and sealed both of the twins within a barrier, a barrier that then somehow disappeared without first killing the two gods.

Then, ignoring the remaining three Primordial Human gods, the Heavenly Spark Soul King teleported right in front of Mer Ka Lin, the half-human half-elf god known as the Magician from Wade’s own faction, and tackled the man, dragging him several hundred lightyears away while dodging a dozen attacks.

As Wade and most of the others followed, the Heavenly Spark Soul King, even while tanking dozens of hits from Mer Ka Lin’s weaker close combat capabilities, summoned out a God rank knife that telekinetically stabbed through the Magician’s neck and into his esophagus. Then a spear appeared, a silver and gold beauty of a God rank artifact Wade recognized as the signature weapon of the God of War, and the Heavenly Spark Soul King telekinetically pushed its blade into Mer Ka Lin’s back.

Before any of them could do anything, the Heavenly Spark Soul King managed to reach out a hand behind Mer Ka Lin to grab the spear’s haft, and then a huge amount of energy flowed through the weapon into the Magician and another god died, one of the best ranged combatants in the multiverse killed even as thirty-six other gods tried to save him.

The Heavenly Spark Soul King then recollected his weapons and took possession of the Magician’s body and soul before somehow turning into what felt like pure Law energy and escaping through a C rank portal to what Wade was pretty sure was an elemental universe.

Oh no!” The Divine Seer sent through the artifacts each member of the Divine Child’s faction involved in the hunt for the United Federation of Planets carried. “We need to head back to the Prime Material! Hurry!

Without saying anything else, he then used his max possible speed to head for the portal to the first of five universes they would have to travel through to return to the Prime Material, almost burning his soul to move as quickly as possible.

Karvac, what’s going on?” Wade sent over the channel as he followed the man, grabbing his slower wife to pull her along with him as every other god from their faction followed as well.

The Heavenly Spark Soul King has killed the Magician and the Master of the Eternal Forge, controls the Lady of Hellwater and the Lord of Twilight Flame, and has seemingly slain the God of War. If he takes back control of the universes those five previously stole from him, he’ll be able to cut off 35% of the universes in his former empire from the Prime Material, including the universe we are in.

Feeling the urgency even more, Wade almost burnt his own soul trying to increase his speed, not even stopping to talk to the two gods from his faction who’d been wandering the universes they passed through, but, still, it wasn’t enough.

Three universes later, as the fastest of them approached the God rank portal to the universe between them and the one where the Collector, the strongest god under the Divine Child, stood guard, they could do nothing but watch as the portal weakened, an illusory clone of the Mistress of Oaths and Deception standing just next to the portal smiling at them before fading out of existence, her work done.

Wade, his wife, his son, Karvac, another god of about their strength focusing on defense, and the twelve scarabs were all trapped, along with several dozen other gods from weaker factions and several gods from their own faction who’d been traveling through the cut off universes—including Goraline, the Radiant Beauty—and there was nothing they could do about it. Meanwhile, the Heavenly Spark Soul King had already proven himself able to move through elemental universes and portals as weak as C rank and strong and fast enough to start picking them off one by one. And this was without showing the full strength he must have used to kill the God of War.

They were all going to die.

Thirteen Life Legion

Ok. Binge read complete. Normal life functions can resume. I am so very excited to see where this ends. On a side note I have absolutely no idea how I've never heard of this story before 72 hours ago. This stuff was like catnip to me and I read an unhealthy amount of it. From reading your author notes and some of your updates posts here I know you hate advertising but damn if you don't have something worth crowing about. My only real complaint is the lack of a table of contents on your Patreon. If you were not aware you can pin a post containing hyperlinks to each individual chapter which would make reading on this site a thousand times easier on mobile.
