Final 2022 update.

I’m not really one to celebrate the end of a year, usually. To me, every day is just another day, another collection of hours. We all have to wake up again and keep living life. Of course, I like the sensation of “freshness": the idea that a new and clean slate is on the horizon. I like the traditions and superstitions that appear around this time of year, too. In my home, we’ll be having an assortment of fruits and salty snacks along with some bubbly drinks at dinner. I’m trying to get all the cleaning and tidying done today because someone told me it’s bad luck to do any washing on New Year’s Day…! Eek! Do you think it’s true? I won’t be taking any chances…

What all happened this year...? It felt very long and very short at the same time. Starting with the biggest stuff: I finished drawing Tiffany’s Griffon (but I still have a lot of edits to do… ack); I somehow, by the grace of God and the help of many friends, claimed the biggest gig of my career so far or possibly Ever; I caught up with One Piece and got to witness one of the biggest moments of the comic in real time; I got into doll collecting and customizing; I started up my blog again; I thumbnailed my newest book. Ah, and my boyfriend Spencer proposed to me… should have maybe listed that first, but he doesn’t read my Patreon posts, so it’s okay.

Thank you all for continuing to stick with me here. That you are reading this amidst scrolls and scrolls of similarly sappy and indulgent end-of-year posts means a lot to me. Let’s all hope I can finally announce my new project soon. If not, I will continue to make several extremely obvious references to it whenever I can. Anyway…

I don’t know what will come in the new year. The future is always more scary than exciting to me, personally… but in these few magic moments everything feels comfortable. I hope it lasts!

Have a beautiful night.

Stay safe and stay cozy,

Maddi
