That legendary Beast of a Cryptic
Added 2023-07-10 09:42:14 +0000 UTCMark takes on the Times Monthly Club Special for June, that legendary beast of a crossword puzzle, where the vocabulary is so outlandish as to elude Mark's own knowledge much of the time - and requires searching in the depths of the dictionary. But Mark tries to tackle it without one!
This puzzle is compiled by Roger Phillips, and you can watch it here:

2023-07-10 23:48:45 +0000 UTC...I was today years old when I learned that I hadn't had the slightest clue how to pronounce Tycho Brahe's name.
2023-07-10 23:42:45 +0000 UTCI think one of the issues was the phrase “… fum, a …” because as some might think the a seems a bit unnecessary. When I was watching I thought of undulu because it made more sense than anything else but that clue, syntax, may have needed the a. But as a cryptic, the a made it harder imo
