The Jewels of Osiris - Act 1 Help
Added 2023-05-02 08:28:15 +0000 UTCDiMono has asked us - quite reasonably - to provide the accompanying document which supplies some help with the final part of Act 1 of the Jewels of Osiris. Just as a reminder, if you finish the hunt, you have to send us an email with the required text and suggestion to crackingthecryptic@gmail.com.
Good luck,
Simon & Mark

Unfortunately, that's what gave me the translations above
2023-05-20 23:09:49 +0000 UTCIt took me forever to figure this out. You need to push all the Arabic letters together as one word, then translate that word.

2023-05-20 18:10:03 +0000 UTCIs this what it's supposed to be?
2023-05-20 04:59:43 +0000 UTCWhen I translate the Arabic from Act 2, I get either "blooded by mother tao" or "town of no regret."
2023-05-20 04:59:13 +0000 UTCSame here Angela. I can’t copy the text of half the Arabic, and when I think I’ve transcribed them it’s complete gibberish.

2023-05-18 00:27:51 +0000 UTCThank you for the tip, I'll try that then. Really, this novel puzzle hunt is great but having to hunt down the translations to the Arabic parts is frustrating at best.

2023-05-10 18:43:39 +0000 UTCHats off to DiMono for this impressive novel/hunt. Simply magnificent.

2023-05-10 16:47:42 +0000 UTCManaged to make progress: copy-pasted the symbols into a google doc, got them in the right order, and translated the document to English; the result made sense.
2023-05-09 23:51:17 +0000 UTCSame here
2023-05-09 07:25:58 +0000 UTCThat should say solution to the first puzzle . Im well away from solving it

2023-05-06 19:06:26 +0000 UTCSame problem with the arabic symbols. I have found all corresponding numbers but don't know what to search for...

2023-05-06 14:14:35 +0000 UTCQuite agree. The puzzles in part 2 were brilliant. I would love to see part 3 but the symbols make no sense at all. Any help with deciphering them would be great
2023-05-05 15:34:44 +0000 UTCI've been absolutely loving this and finally cracked the Act 2 puzzles but I am completely stuck trying to copy/paste and translate the arabic characters from Act 2 now to get the Act 3 password... would it be possible please to post another help file similar to the Act 1? I've tried both PDFs, forward and backwards and what I am getting from the translation is gibberish :-) Many thanks!!!
2023-05-05 04:53:38 +0000 UTCYou cannot solve "The Map" (or any of the puzzles) without partially solving at least one other puzzle to determine the value of some of the lettered cells. All five have to be worked on in parallel

2023-05-04 07:46:42 +0000 UTCCan you please explain what you mean by progress on at least one of the others using crypto letters? Are you saying the little killer puzzle named "The Map" is not solvable using the clues as given in the link ? If yes do we need to replace those letters like R F A U E with some number before solving.

2023-05-04 06:58:39 +0000 UTCOh I see...then yes you're probably right, at least to some extent. That being said the translation that I ended up with initially was mostly giberish.
2023-05-03 08:06:37 +0000 UTCBy "additional help", I am referring to the document that is called "Act 1 Help", of which I am simply trying to say that it wasn't necessary. If you are considering additional help as having a passing knowledge of Egypt, or doing an internet search, then yes, that will certainly aid with the riddle. However, I also believe that you could do this without that additional knowledge. It could be done with only this document, albeit with intuition. I can't be any clearer without giving away spoilers.

2023-05-02 23:23:57 +0000 UTCI kind of disagree with people saying you can solve it with just the text. Are you saying that past knowledge of a particular subject is not "additional help"? Because I think that's a stretch. I only say this because I was thrown completely off by people saying it's all in the text...when it's absolutely clearly not all in the text (unless you already know).
2023-05-02 22:57:43 +0000 UTCOk. That was impossible to figure without already knowing it. But when you Google for it, it's impossible to miss. Not sure how I feel about that, without your comment I'd likely have abandoned this month's Hunt. Anyway, looking forward to the rest!
2023-05-02 22:16:37 +0000 UTCThanks! If it does require information not provided in the text I'll start reading up on Egyptian mythology and hope to come across something relevant.
2023-05-02 22:06:36 +0000 UTCIf you want to find the answer without looking directly for it on the internet, you can start by researching the ancient egyptian gods, the text is about a famous myth, you should find it easily :)
2023-05-02 22:04:07 +0000 UTCI felt that Part 1 was solveable without any additional help. Apparently I used the inaccurate translation, and it was still very clear to me what the password is. Very clear. This looks to be a very good puzzle hunt DiMono. I'm still working on Part 2. The sudoku is great, and I know if I can figure out what you mean with the maps, then I will be able to move onward. I like how this is a different challenge than what we are used to seeing. Well done DiMono!
Darryl Gilbert
2023-05-02 21:51:44 +0000 UTCHmm... Is the riddle (I assume) solvable with just the information in the translation and the original Act 1 pdf? In solved the sudoku, read the act 1 text a dozen times, and now reading the proper translation means absolutely nothing to me. I don't want to just Google the riddle for the answer, but I also don't know if any external knowlegde is required or whether it's a logical deduction. If it's the latter, I'm thoroughly stuck....
2023-05-02 21:45:16 +0000 UTCYou cannot complete any act 2 puzzles without some progress on at least one of the others, using the crypto letters.
