With this update, I added the missing 'oblivious' Vallen path and the branch on which you don't go meet Vallen, thus completing the second big part of Chapter 3.

As always, If you see paragraphs stuck together, really long pages, repeated sentences, or characters not acting as they should — or referencing something that never happened/ forgetting events that have happened, please report them! I tested everything, and while I know there are no game-breaking bugs, minor errors can still slip through the net.

2025-06-03 18:33:52 +0000 UTCI've been playing The Golden Rose for years, loved Book One so much and I've been obsessively replaying this demo for Book Two as well after joining the Patreon because I'm just so excited for how Book 2 is going to go. B1 was amazing even with just mainly Hadrian and Alessa, and little hints of the other characters we'll get to work with, but B2 already has me bouncing with excitement for the world opening up a little bit and us getting to explore even more. Both the world and the relationships we'll have with others in it (whether romantic, platonic or antagonistic). Super excited to see how our Romanus deals with all the different chess pieces being moved around them, and also super excited to see where the mark takes us too - I tend to play a kind, gentle Romanus so Corruption is something I try to avoid, but I love that it'll come for me anyway sometimes 👀 Also since I'm commenting here I want to add that I think your Patreon content is amazing, it gives so many wonderful insights into the characters we've had less time with so far and even for Hadrian and Alessa getting to see more of them is always a treat - thank you for your lovely gift in letting us into the world of the Rose 💛

The amount of love and detail just jumps off the page, and I can really immerse myself in the story. Its such a great setting too! Im biased cause I like the Greek-roman mythology, and even though it's not exactly that, it hits all the write spots for me. I headcannon that my Romanus, Jason, is actually a demigod, which explains all the weird stuff going on around him lol, but we'll see what his origins actually are 😆 cant wait! Keep it up!

2025-03-02 10:51:02 +0000 UTCI know I’m so late to this but I was so busy with other games/books/life for the past year and now I’m back to TGR brain-rot and caught up on the alpha with I think some prologue changes? and omg I missed it so much. This is my favorite cast of ROs (and side characters - Beka you will always be protected) and I love every single route. Every route has soulmate vibes honestly, it’s so well done. They all have a kindred connection with Romanus. AND. I NEED TO SAY. Romanus is THE most fun and versatile IF protagonist to play. They’re so funny (and hot) and unhinged (and hot) and at the same time can be so HEARTBREAKINGLY KIND, WISE AND EMPATHETIC. THEY HAVE RANGE. Soft hearted "not the innocents!!!!" characters in games usually don’t interest me to play because it feels like you’ve played one, you’ve played them all, they never surprise you. But I LOVE my genuine merciful hunter Romanus so much??? I just want her to have a single day of peace??? She’s so human and kind and understanding and interesting?? I have 3 Romanus’ - my first one, the cautious merciful bleeding heart pious hunter (so so fun, my headcanon is abt the duality of working hard to be a great hunter so the kills can be merciful and there will be less traps needed, less wasted life) has mostly only the main plot lines & their deepening concerns for their lover & friends. My corrupt scribe Romanus was… being a menace making enemies and threatening people left and right, just itching for a fight. The fight scenes are always so thrilling (RIP Joan) to read and I love his unhinged ass going at people with his axe. Also it’s great fun to see him eroding Hadrian’s patience (being enemies with Hadrian is so juicy) while my hunter in love w Hadrian frets over him constantly and tries to build him up. Again, Romanus’ range 😭 And my sarcastic messy adventurous merchant had some VERY eventful conversations and encounters with Mist & Vallen. I say all of this to say… each one of them had VERY different Chapters 1-3. 😭 My sweet hunter just wants to get the job done and to protect the lil family and potential new purpose in life she’s building & my other 2 have multiple side quests going on and their hands in everything in VERY different ways for VERY different reasons. I love how versatile Romanus is and how so many plot lines have to be sought out, you end up with so many different stories that fit their specific personalities and motivations, it’s so ridiculously good. TLDR: Romanus I love u, u make me cry & laugh (Red Bitch for Vallen was iconic) & feel all the feelings

I think my Romanus who is Pious and sincere would then feel a bit guilty for telling that secret lol

2025-02-11 13:01:01 +0000 UTCAck I hit return too early, all that said I LOVE the new update and I can't wait until Hadrian calms down about Romanus enough to be able to snuggle and sleep next to each other cause that's ALL mine wanted to do at the end there. ❤️❤️ His moments were such a joy, even if oops sorry my Romanus is too friendly and enjoys bantering so much she accidentally triggered Lance's romance interest, DON'T WORRY BIG GUY (I love it, I personally don't mind some of the friendlier options sending mixed signals, feels very natural)

2025-01-20 21:54:24 +0000 UTCLmao I'm gonna be honest, as someone who's always prioritized the other locations on the day out in my playthrough I never even knew Vallen was a more than a background npc until you announced her as a romance option. I haven't taken the time to play a route going to the gates yet because of how long it would take to redo the initial book so me and my Romanus are clueless about how she even gets involved and I embarrassingly enough don't know if I actually know anything about her or her big secrets. I've been like 'wow am I really dumb or did I miss something HUGE??' when reading Patreon posts mentioning her route. This was the first time I asked Mist about her and it felt very natural on the non Vallen route to be like 'ok cool city and theer intel' and move on LOL so definitely don't worry about how non-Vallen route players are getting on, we're just over here like idk she seems weird, guess we'll never see her again 🤷♀️🤣 (my memory could also be forgetting hints in book 1 as it's been awhile since I played)

I very much enjoyed how Romanus connects the dots, it was very natural, I rmbr there was a struggle if incorporate it in the meeting or later, but I think the Scene fits nicely in the chapter. Also Beka better come under shelter from all that rain she gonna get sick I swear to god. 😫 I really enjoyed blindsiding Rafael with genuine care, but ngl being an ass to him is just so entertaining 🥰

When compared to Vallen's route, I can see why players would get disappointed. So, again, great that you liked it 💓
