Regarding the Alpha

Just wanted to give a quick word regarding the alpha. Unfortunately, due to the link being leaked β and the sad truth that any other link I post would be immediately shared β I had to take it down. I'm currently researching other options on how to share my game so that both my work and your generous support can stay protected.
I'm probably going to use Moody.ink from now on. It has the option to Restrict Acess so that only pre-approved logged-in members can access the game.
But I'm still working out the kinks. Regardless of that, however, the new alpha link will be up by Sunday, the 9th.
I'm sincerely sorry for this disruption, and I apologize to all the people who wanted to play the game and found the link broken. I hate to have disappointed you in any way. I'm really incredibly grateful to all of you. β‘

A little update!
Thank you, first of all, for all your well-wishes and kind messages. They all put a smile on my face. β‘
So, I've looked into Moody.ink, and it has restricted access, but... it requires you to make an account using an email and picking a username. It's that username that I can add to the restricted list to allow access.
This is all good in theory, but what I realized is that there's nothing stopping the leaker from simply making an account using a throwaway email and sharing its password and username with whoever they choose. Yes, it'll make them have to work a bit harder to steal my work, but I don't believe it'd stop them.
And it would only make it harder for you, the people that actually matter, and myself, so I don't think it's worth it.
To the person leaking my work: I hope you're happy with yourself. All this does is make me wary of sharing anything now, and it will probably mean that when I'm in the later stages of my game, I won't risk sharing it here or anywhere. I'll have to keep it completely private.
The new link is on the previous Alpha post β it'll stay up for a month, then I'll create a new one. It doesn't have any new content, but it won't be long before I add it. π

You deserve much better. But we are with you through thick and thin. I know nice comments from people you never met hold little comfort. But I hope we continue to send you enough to show how alone the person who did it is. Personally your writing is a huge source of joy and how ever you proceed won't change that.

There is a lovely sense of community here, and you truly care about your work and your readers. I hate that this happened, but please don't apologize! It wasn't your fault. I don't really understand why anyone would feel the need to do something like this, but I hope they realize that it was an incredibly selfish and crappy thing to do. (Edit: I wonder if there's some way to create multiple versions of the alpha, each with a certain number users that are given permission to view it, and each with a small, specific change in the script like a Version or ID number in the title, or commented out in the code, so that if one of them gets leaked, you know which users had access to that version and can revoke access for them? It would be a lot of work, though, and a little unfair for the loyal readers who had access to that version, though I suppose they could always petition for new access? Hm. I can see how frustrating this would be, and disheartening. :( At the end of the day, I would completely understand if you decided not to release more chapters in the future. You have my support, no matter what. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.)

I understand them wanting to save money. Cost of living is so high, but that shouldnβt come at your expense. Youβre the author. If itβs your work, you get to decide whatβs done with it, who views it, and what it takes to view it. And people need to respect that. Aka basic human decency.

Super disheartening to see work disregarded like that, hope the change of hosting site will work out π

It's sad for the content creators who create these things (your book, graphic designs etc) that are counting on making a few dollars over it. I would imagine the culprit is rolling their eyes at this and doesn't understand why it's wrong. π
