They are all lovely of course, and each origin has its own voice and richness, but because I knew immediately which one was for me (hunter) of course I am going to echo Grizzly. Such a childish name for a fearsome creature, which is in itself so telling of Romanus - here is this great and powerful beast, capable of great violence, named by a child that befriended it when both were innocent. Something something kindness slays the beast / kindness remembers kindness / the innocence of children. This is why I am the reader and not the writer lol. And also, is not a near tooth necklace a metal as fuck memento?

I loved Grizzly!!! He's also part of my favorite origin, and I just... I loved how we get to rescue him as a cub and he comes looking for us year after year. I hope he's still living the good life <3

def Grizzly even though he is not in my fave origin story, i mean hes a bear they are so cuddly! plus i think grizzlys and mcs relationship was the most described amd just made me connect to him more than to the other animals since they arent as much in focus in other origin stories

I also didn't realize there were other animal companion options in the demo either. 😳 I'll have to catch up on reading the other two, but on the plus side I did get the ferret. I thought that storyline was really sweet. Sprinkle made a great pocket pet that felt like it really belonged to the MC. But I also smuggled the cat into the meeting in book 1. 😄 I like a constantly attached pet.

I'm not shocked Grizzly is leading rn. Like others have said the other companions were great but I was so damned shocked that a BEAR was a possible companion to begin with, at freaking 5 years old at that XD Hunter Romanus is intense. And then to see that they grow up with you in a reached understanding- there's definitely that emotional connect that's not the same as the other two, especially when even the hunter origins item is a bear tooth necklace 😭

Did any of the ROs have a pet as a child? Maybe not so much indoor but outdoor. I imagine Hadrian couldn't keep dog inside the monastry. I'm sure Raphael's mother would want a rat anywhere near the house. (Does he have siblings?) The Pirate King probably spent his childhood on the docks so I guess any stray cat that came along he will steal a fish for.

Man, trying to pick a favorite is like trying to pick a favorite child, they each have their own charms. If I had to choose though, I'd pick Sprinkle with Grizzly as a close second. Poor Phoenix doesn't get much focus after their introduction.

Grizzly!! I mean he's a bear.... How can you not want a bear for a friend? 😂 But seriously I love the connection MC has with Grizzly. It's not just a physical connection but also a spiritual. And I like that you show how their relationship grows throughout the years. I cried a little when my MC was leaving and saw Grizzly one last time
