Ultrachrome Update + Next Up...

Hey everyone, I hope your year is off to a great start! Things got a little hectic here in Northern California, where the weather came down with a vengeance over the last few weeks. 4 days without power plus a few blackouts.... Can't complain though - no leaks, no damage to the house, I count us pretty lucky.

Figured I'd send out a quick update though since it's been tricky to stay on a strict schedule. Two pieces:

ULTRACHROME UPDATE:

I hope you've enjoyed messing around with the new plugin. I did find one issue that I've fixed - turns out that when Photoshop converts a Smart Object back to layers, sometimes it preserves layer effects, and sometimes it doesn't. In some cases, this was preventing the plugin from functioning. Fixed. It's also just a little faster and the edge highlights can get brighter.

Update attached below - to install, double click the CCX (or right click and open with UnifiedPluginInstallerAgent). Creative Cloud will prompt you to replace the old version.

UP NEXT:

By popular demand, I've been adapting the Photoshop Lo-Fi Sci-Fi Monitor Effect into an After Effects tutorial. LOVE this setup. I have been wrestling with the tutorial a little bit, but it's getting close. There are a handful of expressions involved which I want to explain but I'm also just trying to keep it lean and to-the-point. Striking that balance is always the challenge.

In any case, the video above is a test animation I did using the setup. Keep an eye out - I'm sure I can get this tutorial out next week!

In the meantime, thank you and Happy New Year!
