DAN DA DAN - Episode 7 (UNCUT REACTION)

Anime of the year for me. Nothing comes close

DAN DA DAN - Episode 7 (UNCUT REACTION)

Comments

aiRRRRa

Daniel Reinhardt

Yeah, this series has for sure the best backstories. I know that every time I see a backstory in the manga, it's gonna hit deep.

Mels

I got the same idea too

BabyforBAPStarlightforVIXX

U find it shocking ppl like something more than u do and they think it's great? Hmm almost sounds like a personal opinion to me. Whatever u find "masterclass" or whatever tf, doesn't make it objectively factual

Mikyah

At this age of your life, you're still not aware of what a personal opinion is? It's not glaze just bc he really likes the show. It's not just about u, your opinion isn't the deciding factor for what's good or what's top 5 or not. If that's your opinion, fine, but how u gonna tell someone else what's actually top 5 of the year as if u share the same opinions?

Mikyah

After this episode I realised that this anime is like gintama. It’s all the same - want comedy: gintama, action: gintama, drama: gintama, romance: gintama, etc. I really hope to see you reacting to gintama one day.

newtonlex

When reading this manga I loved it but this part pulled me in for real. I never imagined this could be executed so beautifully. Dandadan is an absolute masterpiece already and it's not even finished yet.

ZigZagKangaroo

Same, watching it a second time with Nick you go through it again. And are even able to notice small things you weren't able to before. I cried more the second time than the first.

Malekai Reignheart

I knew what was coming and it still broke me - again.

Tilaria Flauschick

This is what anime should look like. I love animes and I am tired of people enjoying the manga more than the animations. Animators also put a lot of hours to create this and I feel like anime could be so much far ahead in the industry or as an art if studios really put in the time for it.

Gabriel

Wow I totally missed it

Gabriel

Nick has shred tears to previous patreons exclusive. It might have been re:zero or HxH idk

Gabriel

watch it again when u have a child, u'll die

hnokx

idk about anime of the year bro but its good. mind you frieren season1 finished on march 2024 so keep that thought open

Bernard

Thanks for your reactions Nick You are the Goat

Hiro

For Asians, we have a belief that children can actually see ghosts.

Anavil Didthasom

Nick got very good hearing! yup HxH Palm also voiced Acrobatic Silky

Exan Highlander

You're right, it is still my opinion, but it is not an opinion that the mangaka made a very strong, popular manga. It is massively popular for a reason, and the anime generated massive amounts of hype as well. If it was not done well, either the anime or the manga, then it would likely not be as popular as it is. Objectively, it is a strong manga and show, whether you think it is the best of the year or not. My problem was more you seemingly talking down to people that think it is the best of the year, calling it a "crazy glaze". That was what prompted my response in the first place

Ryan Palyo

Just found out that the VA for Aira voiced Ochaco Uraraka as well!

GGMIMI

Mf's call everything glazing nowadays... giving a show the praise it rightfully deserves isn't glazing. I watch pretty much every genre of anime and have seen PLENTY of new animes that came out this year, and IMO DanDaDan clears everything ive watched and its not even close

ryan

Let’s put it this way I’m literally scared to watch cyberpunk cause I know I’ll be depressed asf if I do

omar zioui

Dandadan is personally my anime of the year

omar zioui

I don't know what you're talking about. Don't you understand me? This is a joke

원 지

you dont gett to tell a person (whose reacttions ur paying for to watch btw) to stop...if u don like itt watch sm else <3

Anime Yandere

I understand this but your reply is complete irony. Yes people dont have to like the same thing, I just find it shocking people think this series as a whole is some masterclass in anime character writing when its IMO (keyword I used in my comment prior that you seem to have missed) nothing that special at all. The irony in your reply is that you say people might not like the same thing then go on to state your opinion of DanDaDan as a FACT

William

yep

Detective Gamez

probably because you watched the Y version

Floaty

People don't have to like the same things as you. Whether you think it's the best or not, it is a fact that Dandadan has been an amazing adaptation, with amazing art, animation, VAs, and the studio adding more to the story through original animation. The manga did an amazing job writing well developed, likeable characters with realistic dialogue, and the story is very strong with multiple genres of comedy, action, supernatural, romance, etc. It can very easily be someone's AOTY with that kind of receipt

Ryan Palyo

This episode reminds me of demon slayer episode 19. like yea all the previous episode was good but when you reach that episode.... its like youre hit with a truck and it made you think "Ouh... its this good"

kyri3322

AOTY is crazy glaze. As someone who watches and reads like every genre its imo not even top 5 this year (not even close to it). Once you branch out of the echo chamber of strictly watching “popular” airing or recurring shows (although some this year have been amazing!) is where I’ve found by far the best writing, characters, etc. An example I could name is Hibike Euphonium. Its not some action show that majority of people default too, but the writing, OSTs, characters completely clear anything else this year. A typical Kyoto Animation Masterclass

William

This episode really got me in the feels, man. And as you said, there are so many people who go through these situations in real life, especially the mothers and fathers of the world. To have that much love for your child and to sacrifice so much for them. There is no love like it. And an exemplary portrayal of that is always going to be my weakness, lol. But yeah, 10/10 episode 1000%.

Zayed Soudagar

Same here, God.. Way too good of an episode

Zayed Soudagar

I remember that he reacted to some of the openings, he liked the songs despite the cringy lyrics but was disgusted by the cgi. I doubt that he will react to it, which is a shame. Seasons 1-3 are amazing, after that it falls off a bit imo, but there are still a lot of crazy and very well choreographed scenes and a good story.

Hurthz

as much as i like solo leveling i don't really see people praise about it much and even Nick put it below most of the shows he watched on the tier list.

Raydough

I have nothing against the Nick who yaps constantly but I prefer the one in this video much more. I hope we see him more often. Great reaction otherwise!

skyfall

Bro, I respect your opinion. but no. For now i don't see any reason to make statement like this. Maybe im little bit biased towards shounens, but i don't see anything outstanding here.Top10(probably top5) in 2024 - yes, top1 - no. But let's see, we still have 1.5 month in 2024.

Armavel

W

ISHOWNUT

Third the animation is top tier

Martin Fink

Nick WE GET IT This show is great stop..

원 지

Same man that's how powerful this episode is.

Martin Fink

Absolute Cinema aaah man that hurt , being put in from of such story that reflect real life stuff that are happening it's soul crushing , it's infuriating , it strangle your heart and you wanna scream , and I think it's important to be exposed to such reality because in our day to day life we shelter ourselves put on blindfold to be able to move . We try to walk in blissful ignorance to the horror that take place in our world that we human sometimes create and take part in it . but thanks to these shows , we realize and connect to the pain to the truth , and we feel , human and humbled . to the person that lived such tragedy , I wish I could save them . To the ones that harm for their own twisted interest , I curse you , I wish I was given the power to punish . Now yes , some peoples have sad stories and struggle that put them on path where they harm others , I would too end up this way given some circumstance , but there's is a distinction between : villains, humans that made mistake and lost themselves when colliding with this world, these can be redeemed and forgiven or at least understood. And between utter garbage "human" monsters , they do not deserve mercy

Azariel 竜月

bro this anime is absolute peak storytelling and execution episode after episode without slowing down even an little bit, nothing comes close to this this year im sorry

Стокућа Милош

erased broke me as much as this i would love if he reacted to it

Стокућа Милош

bro i rewatched this with nick and still cried

Detective Gamez

Different people. They found each other I guess

Ok

After seeing you react to this, I really want to see an Erased react from you xD

Ancientswords

I’m kinda high right now so maybe that’s why I’m confused on something. Is Aira actually her daughter or is it just that she feels a connection to her like that. Cause Aira’s mother looked different from the spirit but the way she said Mom I love you at the end… unless that was to help the spirit move on with no regrets. Either way I’m in full blown tears right now

Beast sama

Nick, would you be interested in reacting to a show called “RWBY”? Its a really cool show that looks like a video game and the fighting scenes are awesome

Alexis Plummer

For me every episode is 10/10. There hasn't been one thing in this anime I would change

NoahNotes

Anime of the year ⚽️⚽️

Hxlo

Oh, i dont know how to feel about 'Anime of the year' statement. If it could be chosen based only on 1 masterpiece episode, then Demon Slayer destroys everyone with 'Hashira Unite'. :) For me in Fall season Dandadan is behind Re Zero. And we also have strong contenders this year like Oshi no Ko, Mushoku Tensei, Dungeon Meshi and Solo Levelling.

Armavel

where is png lock? 😏

electriq

3:24 Acrobatic Silky is actually voiced by Palm's VA. She did a fantastic job mixing in some emotion and crazyness to the character. I love how Nick instantly understood what the anime was trying to portray when she was dancing beneath the stars. Some people on Twitter didn't get that she was on a roof haha. As an anime only, Since the 1st & 2nd eps, I was already in love with the complexity of the dialogue and characters. It showed the potential this show has from a storytelling standpoint, and here we are on ep 7. What a masterpiece.

rizqiefajar

Anime involving youkai is sad anime I ever watch, like Natsume Yujincou for example.

andry perdana

I will say it. I was not ready for this episode.

Gytis Pranskunas

She wasn't running away... This episode had me in an emotional place I haven't been in a while!

Ashton Laznicka

I remember reading this chapter years ago, and it hitting everyone the same way. I didn't expect the anime to take the emotion even further (though having to censor some details because of Japan rules). The mom killed herself, the daughter likely was abused and then died. But they got to reunite in the afterlife, thanks to Aira giving acro-silky some hope at the end <3

yasmina C

Seconded

Chase Steiner

The story telling of acro silky's backstory is just so good. One of the most well done and perfect examples of "show don't tell" writing I've ever seen. Absolutely blew me away

Typheos

I think this is the closest Nick has been to shedding a tear on camera.

Stuff

You should watch wistoria wand and sword it’s god tier

Hamza Mamdani

they were yakuzas. Its implied she took a loan and used some of the money she made from her Jobs and being a escort to pay for the dress for the daughter. When they came to collect the money she was Short what she owed so they took the daughter. As to what happened to the daughter After that, i think u can imagine. So she committed suicide by jumping off a building because she couldnt take Losung her daughter. U can hear the noise before she sees aira. There she is already a ghost and just aira can see her.

Massimo Wilhelm

I watched this ep 5 times and cried every time

jakobe

That's how I'm feeling too so glad to know I'm not alone

Kleed44

Bro manga is darker than this :)

Anavil Didthasom

They did. That's what the dancing in the rain was. The perspective was from a high place and all of the lights below her were meant to represent buildings. I assume they just had to remove all of the explicit suggestions towards suicide because of the suicide epidemic in Japan.

Myo0

If only I knew how wrong i was when i chose this reaction as my breakfast watch. Thought second time wouldn't hit as hard. Yeah, genius. Now I'm full of tears

Anuchek

Its art. Thats what i realised after this episode. This is art at its purest

Malagar gamer

I went into this expecting the show to attempt making me cry, so I was worried that I wouldn't feel sad despite that. But the show succeeded. Damn, that hit me. The scene where she danced in the rain...wow.

Lazy Lenni

didn't you watch naruto and sasuke kiss?

Kojiro

That’s one of my favorite things about this story… Almost all the characters you meet are over the top in some way, often in a seemingly stereotypical way, but almost immediately you start seeing the layers peeled back and seeing the deeper more complex parts of them.

Wild Wesley

As a fan who read the manga before the anime was even announced, this adaptation couldn’t have been done better. I cried :(

Khitar_B!

I agree especially since that 2 page spread of her flipping off the roof while thinking of when her daughter thanked her was so heart wrenching. It was still beautiful and since I knew what was happening that crunch was devastating, but I was watching with my friend who hasn’t read the manga and he thought that she died when she fell on the sidewalk and was bleeding out.

Wild Wesley

I don’t think you’re missing anything. That last moment is nice but she’s still a jerk so far. She hasn’t been nice to Momo and Okarun in the slightest and her only “good” moment so far is the moment at the end of this episode. It’s not enough to give her a pass for being such a bitch.

Sukuna's Favorite

Oh his reaction was great too. I knew it was going to be rough for him, not just because it’s a tough backstory, but with him having kids. Yikes

Sukuna's Favorite

It’s much clearer in the Manga. I guess they felt that they had to censor it in the anime?

Sukuna's Favorite

I agree that it was more brutal in the anime but I’m still bummed that the anime didn’t adapt that final panel of her jumping off the roof. (The last panel of chapter 16.)

Sukuna's Favorite

This was the first time any anime has made me fully cry.

Carter

It’s a bit more clear in the manga, but that crunch in the anime was so brutal…

Wild Wesley

This was sooo much more brutal than in the manga, and the montage in the manga was brutal enough… the glass made me flinch so hard. Also I’m not a professional animator by any means, but I’ve done some amateur animation projects, and the only way I can think of how they got those amazing pov painterly sequences, is animating a digital 3D program first then digitally painting over it for each frame. Beautifully done.

Wild Wesley

This episode is 😭💔, that mens in the house deserved a horrible death, Bro Nick you have to react Violet Evergarden if you want a good emotional and sad story that hit in the chest

Enzo Jesus Aguilera Aros

They had a whole orchestra in the studio for that dancing scene. Masterpiece.

Aidan Landgrebe

It was magical man.

Rythm_

It was a bit hard to see but she was dancing on a wet rooftop an jumped off. Didnt realize until my second watch. Amazing episode...

BottleOfSoup

I really hope people haven’t forgotten ep 6😭

Hxlo

thats why he said for me!

RemeQ

as a manga reader, acro-silky's backstory made me emotional when I first read it, but seeing it animated made me hysterical. the manga portrayed her story in a beautiful and emotional way as it is, but the anime took it to an entirely different level. the OST, the voice acting, the animation, the anime original scenes - this is one of the FEW times where I wholeheartedly believe that the anime outdid the manga

nic ˚୨୧⋆。

But u havent watched all the anime this year!

Sabrina

"What's she running away from?" "I wanna know what that beginning was! I want her whole backstory!" Oh, you sweet summer child 😂regrets were said this day 😂and yes, she was selling her body for money. That's it. She also had other part time jobs that're normal. This episode is now the highest rated episode of the series. And it has only been out for a little less than 24 hours at this point.

Vailing Bow

Recency bias, let's wait a couple of months before making the decision But for me rn it's Dandadan lmao

Poragami

?

Poragami

Ik

Sinbad_Deity

I'm agreeing with you BTW

Othinus

This episode was so amazing! If that backstory didn't make you cry then nothing will. (By you I mean people in general, not you Nick)

MIce1987

If you watch all episodes of gintama, you will get this same feeling and reaction. Both have a lot of similarities

Akun Palsu

Btw Nick she committed suicide in that dancing scene that’s why you her a Thud at the end. Its her jumping off the rooftop.

AnakoX10

bro you cant read the R on aiRa name?

Sr RafaTV

Too hard to choose

Hxlo

your friend g.o.t games luke was broken by the episode hate destroyed him the episode. probably because he has children of his own (I'm watching the episode for the third time now and it brought tears to my eyes every time)

dartcp

Is it just me or is anyone else finding it a bit hard to like Aira as a character so far? No hate but I hope I'm not missing something

Kleed44

Need some glaze with that waffle

Sinbad_Deity

I'm not saying rezero is better, but Nicholas is comparing Dandadan to nothing right now, he's calling it anime of the year, when he hasn't watched other great anime like re:zero.

Sinbad_Deity

Absolute waffle

Othinus

I'm a die hard re zero fan but the latest two episodes didn't live up to the expectations, this Dandadan episode was something else

Diavolo

Dandadan episode 7 or cyberpunk episode 6?

Reversify :D

I said this under another reaction channel but I’ll copy it over here: I’m a manga reader and when I first read that I was devastated, not crying but so close. I watched the episode as soon as it dropped. I held it all the way to that last hug and completely lost it, balling my eyes out. Science Saru did her story so much justice and even knowing her backstory, I was not at all ready for how well it was adapted. I can’t even imagine how it was seeing it like you, with no warning. I almost wish I had that experience.

Sukuna's Favorite

I wish they made it a little bit clearer in the anime since I’ve seen a lot of reaction channels confused by it. I read the Manga so I knew in advance but I can totally see how it would confuse people. And you know, they changed that last panel when they translated it into the anime which sucks because that original panel was beautiful (i mean the art not the moment)

Sukuna's Favorite

Watch re:zero first, then talk 😂

Sinbad_Deity

Nick, I'll come right back with an explanation. When the mother begins to dance against the background of the stars, it is actually the light of the windows and lamps of the city, and she is on a hill, a roof, dancing and then jumping from the roof, memories of her daughter flash before her and we hear how she hit the asphalt
