"Ew, no," she blurts out with a grimace before snorting out a laugh. "That sounded really bad, but I didn't mean it that way. They're an amazing person and certainly brighten up the officeβ"
"Like a pot plant, you mean?" you ask.
She throws you a half-lidded stare. "You're making me sound even worse." She leans back in her chair with a sigh. "They're just too close to me. We're like family. I don't see them in that way, but I can totally get why others do." She glances about, leaning back before angling forward and then turning to you. "Don't tell them I said that though. We don't need another inflated ego in this place. Mine fills up the space well enough." Her sudden bright smile adds a twinkle to her eyes.
