That a lots of slaves accused a little girl who is suffering from the same as them, just to save their ass. As she was the most fragile one it would be easier to get rid of her. That's not what Eren wanted to achieve. Humans like to think that if they were put in a situation, they would somehow come out on top. They would be above it and maintain their strong moral code. Every single human is capable of evil if put in the wrong situation, and we've seen this throughout history. I believe that is a major theme in this show. I think implying they tried to 'Code Geass' the ending shows that you didn't fully understand the show. That's not at all what was being done. You don't always get the princess and your fairy tale ending.

I watched it yesterday alone and immediately after it once again with you, Nick. Addictive show. I only wished to see a final dialogue between Mikasa and Eren. I mean... that "fake future" when Mikasa and Eren escaped... was that a route Eren went to tell Mikasa a few things like he did with Armin? I does not feel like it. So I wished there were final words. But somehow... it is sadder this way. And funny... if Mikasa would have said at that one point something to Eren... Paradise would have got extinct. So it was like the only way. What a journey, will rewatch it eventually for sure. Thank you Nick for reacting to it. It was the reason why I started to join patreon. I loved the ending as well, I knew how it was going to end (I was spoiled years ago) but it never seemed like a bad ending to me either, honestly. I think what it was is that many people wanted was for either: a) Eren to be a completely unredeemable villain and for him to be stopped before he killed so many lives, or b) Eren to win because they think he’s right and run to off with Mikasa and friends and live happily ever after with his wife and kid. Basically, a lot of people were upset that the story wasn’t as black and white as they would have liked, because of that, it meant they couldn’t completely glorify or condemn one or another side. I’ve also seen some other reactors complain about the ‘cynicism’ of the overall plot, and not liking that whole “the world is cruel” concept at all (of course, completely forgetting the rest of the line “and also beautiful” because they only want to complain smh). It all comes down to it not being the ‘perfect’ ending really, which is really very silly and very sad when you think on it. This ending may not be the one where everyone gets what everyone wants but, I think it’s definitely the ending that the show needs to be complete. Would I have loved it if everyone survived and lived happily ever after? Sure! But that’s just what I want, and I think I needed this ending instead. I can always turn to fan fiction and day dreams for anything else lol.

For the first two seasons I was completely confused at first but the way the story started connecting through season 3 and growing on season 4, there's just no way you can say that is not good story writing. The ending was perfect for Attack on Titan because from the start it was never happy. It is just a tragic story and will have a tragic ending. Even with the extended story showing us what happens through the years, in the end, the story will just repeat itself. 10 out of 10 story 10 out of 10 anime

Was one of the most hyped anime at the time and for a while before Demon slayer and MHA showed up. The only reason I give a 9/10 to this anime is because of how they had horrible CGI in the 3rd season. The CGI in those last 3 chapters were amazingly good in comparison.

Remember, she was blamed for that, and that is why the King Fritz tried to kill her (when every slave snitched on her). We thought that she was innocent but she is trully responsible for this act. Actually, I see two explications to that. Whether she wanted provoke the future, like Eren, knowing everything that would happen (but I doubt this explication). Or maybe she wanted to free the pigs who were slaves, the same way she was a slave for King Fritz love. She was then awaiting for Mikasa to free her bc she had to free herself from loving a monster, which Ymir couldn't do in 2000 years. This act could bring an end to Ymir's sufferings and sin. Hence, at the end we understand that Mikasa's migraines were Ymir's interfering with her mind, not bc she was an Ackerman slave of Eren as he said. Ymir has been showing the path to Mikasa this whole time (Mikasa's dream was reality, but in the path, and you will notice it in the OVA that Andrej Simic, aka lost in cruel World, mentionned).

The entire dialogue between Eren and Armin poorly executed in the manga but the anime learnt from that and created something incredible instead. Same with the packing, it was kinda rushed in the manga but in the anime they took their time and delivered a good ending. Of course there are always going to be some people who’ll dislike it, but the main reason fans disliked it was due to the reason I stated

I've noticed that so much deeper meaning and double meanings get lost in translation, as Japanese is a very complex language with a dozen possible meanings for a single word. My guess is that the Japanese manga had a lot more depth and oomph to it, and the translations got the bare bones that could be fit onto the page, since you can't just randomly add extra panels or disembodied speech bubbles on a blank page to increase the dialogue.

My personal interpretation is that while the implication of history repeating itself is very strong, we didn't see the child actually make contact with Eren or something supernatural. Yes, human nature will stay the same, and there is a big chance that the same mistakes will be made, but a single different choice can change everything. We can't say for sure that the child will take the same path Ymir did, we can only guess, and hope that this time, a smarter choice will be made.

Sure, it would have been sweet if Eren and Mikasa got a happy ending, but that's not Attack on Titan. Also I’ve never like they showed the secret chapter during the credits scene when Mikasa visiting the grave with someone (possibly Jean) till her death. Other than that, it’s a bad way to end. Overall, I’m sad to see Attack On Titan finally come to end and I’m glad I get to ride along the whole way!

I cried a lot toward the end when everyone was fighting tears up after the parasite transformed their family and Jean Conny in titans.. Mikasa kissing the head of Eren was a bit weird, I would have prefered that she rushed him for a kiss, Eren surprised, Mikasa crying, and insane animation on the arm cutting his head, but that was good too with the sun and Ymir. And the discussion between Armin and Eren was amazing, I wasn't expecting those first lines of Armin so I was laughing while crying lmao the chaos was not just in that episode but in all parts of me, it's finally over, in the most sad way that could happen, Eren lost it.. I first watched this shit when I was 13, now I'm 22. Love to Shingeki no Kyojin for ever, it made me feels so much things <3

Isayama and mappa literally removed the bad things and added extra dialogues and scenes to make it more fledged out. The manga ending was mediocre at best but the anime ending is a solid ending, no where near perfection but far away from the mid that was the manga

Of course, stopping Eren wouldn't change that all of a sudden, as many people expected for some reason. The whole point is that they got their freedom and peace in the end. Just like anything in this world, it can't last forever; there is a threshold to everything. So it doesn't make sense to me when people say that what Eren did was completely pointless because Eldia got attacked and nuked to hell anyway. That's like saying that every person who has ever fought for peace and freedom in our world fought for no reason in vain because another conflict or war was going to happen again anyway. In my opinion, it's pretty stupid to think that because as imperfect humans, we're inevitably going to fight, whether it's for land/resources, money/power, religion, freedom, etc. What Eren was trying to achieve was impossible to begin with because even if he were to kill all of humanity except for the Eldians, do people seriously not think that they will not eventually have their own conflicts? They literally fought and killed each other for having different views. It's extremely ignorant and childish, in my opinion, to think that Attack on Titan would have such a Disney-like ending, and people hate the fact that reality slapped them in the face with how grim it is. The truth isn't always sunshine and rainbows, and there are people who just can't accept that.

2023-11-05 15:52:17 +0000 UTCNick, i think you misunderstood why we were mad about the ending, it wasnt the ending that eren wanted mikasa to love him only, because we all wanted that, but instead in the credits where u see the people under the tree, they are mikasa and jean's kids and grand children, which means mikasa fucked jean with her flippin scarf on her and also the kid at the final scene is one of mikasa's grand children or something, or problably just a random kid, that ending scene show everything eren did was pointless since titans are coming back to the world. And also, you are kinda far off the story because eren was the father of historia, he did it so historia will be protected from the curse of Ymir.

2023-11-05 15:35:27 +0000 UTCthe ending is slightly different from the manga but not in a narrative changing way. most chances they're gonna do "before the fall" next although I don't know how much hype will be for this adaptation. all in all a masterpiece in story telling with a tragic yet so true message about war being eternal and world piece will never be achieved and that humans will keep fighting until the end of time. I know people wanted a "happy ending" for EREN and MIKASA but this is truly IMO the best outcome for the story. EREN being a bird, a true symbol of freedom, is just so beautiful.

He's just some average person who had the weight of the world forced upon him, and gained a near incomprehensible amount of power. Add to that immense childhood trauma and never being able to truly talk about what he was going through, along with having lifetime's of memories running through his head to the point you can no longer truly tell what is past, future or present, and this is what you end up with. As Eren said, this was the only outcome that could happen. Personally I think he wanted his friends to live and be happy, and to wipe out everything. In order to actually go through with it he had to convince himself it was one way or the other. He knows his actions aren't sane or logical, they're driven by emotion - and he can hold those two heartfelt wishes at the same time.

However I think the anime did it far more justice and fleshed some of those scenes out a little/changed some dialogue so I think it's actually decent now. It's an extremely realistic ending that keeps to the various themes and messages the show has put forth throughout.

Do I wish Isayama had added a few more chapters to flesh some things out? Sure. But to say the new characters were annoying or worthless is to completely miss the point of the series. It seems like you had a set idea of how the series should end from seasons 1-3, and when it went in a different direction than you thought it should you never even gave it a chance.

2023-11-05 12:37:55 +0000 UTCYour reaction was awesome nick, being a manga reader I will say I believe the hate spurred with how the conversation between Armin and Eren wasn't fully fleshed out and the explanations were delivered poorly, but obviously this manga is being translated from Japanese to English the mistranslations is gonna make the fanbase confused on what Isayama was trying to portray. This anime extended the scene and made it made sense. And I love how they did it. Really happy you loved this ending nick as do I. Tatakae my man.

Remember how when Gabi shot erens head off, him and zeke spent forever in the paths in the span of like 1 millisecond. I think that happened with Mikasas last headache on Falco, they lived some time in the paths and before they separated Eren told mikasa how to kill him and where he was, which is how she knew where to find him.
