Japanese people in a drinking atmosphere are much more open and willing to help you learn the language - some of my best nights there were just pulled up to a 4 or 5 person seat max Izakaya drinking with a random stranger learning Japanese.

When you go to Japan, better say Sugoi instead of Sugeh/Sogay. There are sometimes fantasy expressions or slangs that are only used in anime, but not used much, or not even used at all in real life.
