Breastfeeding after MRI or Mammogram

If you would like to view this educational documentary please upgrade.

There are certain radiologic procedures and testing that women must do for cancer screenings and optimum health. Early detection is the most important part of these screenings which can help to save lives.

There is very little radiation passed through breastmilk. La Leche league says there is no need to discontinue breast-feeding after one of these procedures because the risk of formula exposure and the benefits of breast-feeding outweigh the risk of any of the small amount of radiation passed through breastmilk. Even babies get MRIs.

The actual radiologist says to wait a few days up to a week to resume breast-feeding.

These are highly conflicting opinions and you must do and decide what is right for you and your family by speaking with your own pediatrician and your own doctor.

I am only sharing my own experience and research I’ve done on this topic with you.

I chose to wait two days after getting an MRI and a mammogram before I resumed breast-feeding and I had a very happy child when she was able to resume.

I’ve also discovered that breastmilk is being studied to fight cancer and it has literally been destroying cancer cells in the trial research!

This proves that breastmilk is the liquid gold it is said to be. I hope I will always have mine in stock for the rest of my life.

Even after my breast-feeding journey ends with my daughter whenever she is ready to wean I plan on pumping or hand expressing and donating the milk to milk banks for children or people in need of this precious life sustaining food source. Breastmilk is actually a whole food. I sincerely doubt that people could survive alone on other non human milks. Breastmilk is specifically made for humans and is complete nutrition. The vitamins and minerals and antibodies to build and support strong immune systems in breastmilk are unlike any other human food.

I don’t suggest anyone trying to live off of only breastmilk please always consult a doctor about you and you’re families nutritional needs, but these are my opinions and conclusions from the research that I have done.
