The love of a mother…

The love of a mother can heal illnesses and her warmth and kindness can comfort her child. 46% of women breast-feed past the age of three sometimes even until seven or 10 years old. It is entirely up to her mother and child when their breast-feeding journey should be finished. It is unfortunate to me that society looks down upon this not knowing all of the health benefits and mothers have to hide the fact that they extended breast-feed because of society.

Breastfeeding passed the age of two is completely normal and healthy for both mother and child more and more studies are coming to light about all of the solid health benefits the longer the breast-feeding journey is for both mother and child.

It was a surprise to me when my daughter came to me with an earache and asked me to nurse which I allowed and it made her feel so much better she not only healed faster but her ear ache went away within a few hours after nursing twice. Just because a child has weaned does not mean that they will not want to go back to the breast again at some point. I was lucky enough to have my younger daughter still nursing so I had an abundance of milk for my older child who is now five years old. I’m so thankful that my mothers milk was able to allow her to feel better my bosom was able to comfort her and now she is feeling all better thanks to Mommy and the comforts and closeness of our bond together as mother and child.

Stop caring what other people think and do what is best for you and your child if that is to wean then so be it if that is to continue breast-feeding past the age of two so be it.

Breast-feeding provides a child with a superior immune system and even helps prevent adult diseases as they grow up.

Do what is best for you and your family and what feels right for you and your child.

Studies are now showing that women that have breast-fed their child past the age of three actually have a closer bond with their children as adults.
