In this picture you can see the white flaky looking skin if it is not accompanied by an itchy uncomfortable or sore nipple it may just be dry skin but if it is accompanied by itching and extra soreness of the nipple area than usual from breast-feeding you may want to check with your doctor to make sure that it is not a thrush infection or the beginning of a thrush infection so that you can catch it before it becomes a bad thrush infection. Thrush is an overgrowth of yeast on the skin or nipple area it can also be found in the mouth or as a diaper rash or skin infection always talk to your doctor if something is abnormal with your skin or your babies skin. when things are caught early they’re more likely to be easier to clear up. Thrush of the nipple is treated with an antifungal cream and thrush of the mouth can be treated with an antifungal mouthwash or application prescribed by your doctor or pediatrician.
