Veins and Vasospasms...

Throughout a woman’s breast-feeding journey especially after the first months of life after the baby is born veins become much more noticeable as the breast needs more oxygenated blood flow in order to make the ammount of milk it will begin and continue to make for the breastfed baby. These same veins will also protrude and arise more from the delicate breast skin after a feeding. This is completely normal and is nothing to worry about. This will go back to normal once feeding the baby from the breast has stopped and the baby is fully weaned. It may take awhile for the milk to dry up for the veins to appear at their normal state such as before birthing the baby. The vasospasm pictured is after a feeding when the milk is closest to the nipple and is creating a white appearance which can burn and be a bit painful. This also could be the start of a nipple yeast infection called thrush the two can be confused due the similar burning 🔥 sensation felt with both issues. Some women will have vasospasms throughout their breast-feeding journey. They can last from minutes after a feeding to hours after a feeding. When in doubt it is always best to speak to your doctor to make sure that you catch thrush before it turns into a really bad infection therefore making it easier to treat. thrush can be very difficult to treat especially when the infection gets to an advanced stage. Without treatment thrush can be dangerous even getting into the bloodstream.
