What A Cartoon! - The June 2022 Schedule

Welcome to June! This month, we're celebrating a huge milestone with the fifth anniversary of The Talking Simpsons Network—and a slightly smaller milestone with the 50th episode of Talking Futurama. And if 6.5 hours of discussion wasn't enough, we're picking up where we left off in April by looking at Roger Rabbit's post-movie life (and death) on a very special episode of What A Cartoon! On top of that, we'll also be kicking off our second Disney Renaissance Summer with the film that started it all: The Little Mermaid.

And remember, if you'd like to listen to this month's episodes of TalKing of the Hill and Talking Futurama, you'll need to sign up at the $5 level or higher on the Talking Simpsons Patreon. Once you subscribe, you'll get to hear our miniseries episodes as soon as they go live, and also access our extensive back catalog of Patreon-exclusive podcasts—over 100 to date!

Here's what's on the schedule for June:

Roger Rabbit Shorts/Unmade Sequels [Patreon: 6/6/22 - Free Feed: 6/13/22]

At the end of April, $10 patrons got to hear our longest podcast ever, all about Who Framed Roger Rabbit. But would you believe there's even more discussion to be had about this short-lived cartoon star? To kick off the month, we'll be examining the back half of the Roger Rabbit timeline: his three theatrical shorts, and the many stabs at making a sequel. Get ready for a rare podcast where Jeffrey Katzenberg isn't the villain!

All of the Roger Rabbit shorts are currently available on Disney+. (Roller Coaster Rabbit is included in the "Extras" section of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.)

Talking Futurama - "Anthology of Interest II" [Patreon: 6/13/22]

It's the 50th episode of Futurama, and, coincidentally, the 50th episode of Talking Futurama! This time around, we're taking a look at the second and final Anthology of Interest episode: one that turns Bender into a human, makes Fry a Last Starfighter-style hero in a world where video games come to life, and transforms the cast into Wizard of Oz characters for some reason. You'll never think of the expression "Woo!" the same ever again!

TalKing of the Hill - "The Final Shinsult" [Patreon: 6/20/22]

Cotton Hill returns to the show as we cover an episode all about famous legs and Texas history! When Hank has a falling out with his cantankerous father over taking away his driver's license, Cotton finds a suitable surrogate son in Dale. Will Hank be able to reconcile with his dad and reunite him with his large-reared wife? Listen in to find out, plus learn important facts about General Santa Anna!

An Extended Free Preview of What A Cartoon Movie for The Little Mermaid [Patreon: 6/27/22 - Free Feed: 7/4/22]

Look at these pods; aren't they neat? Wouldn't you think your collection's complete? Well, the answer is no, because in over three years of What A Cartoon Movie, we haven't covered the film that made animated features important (and profitable) again. At the end of the month, we're making up for this sin with an extra-long podcast all about The Little Mermaid! Get ready to roll into another Disney Renaissance Summer with the movie that started it all, and increased mermaid awareness by a whopping 3000 percent!

And remember: $5 patrons and folks on the free feed will hear an extended preview of the podcast, but if you want the whole thing (and access to all other episodes of What A Cartoon Movie) you'll have to bump your subscription up to the $10 level.

That's all for this month! Thanks again for supporting and listening; we couldn't do what we do without you!

Tummy Trouble and Trail Mix-Up are in the D+ app and Roller Coaster Rabbit is in the D+ extras section for Who Framed. As well you can find the shorts on YouTube pretty easily, I believe. - Henry
