Vote On The March 2022 What A Cartoon Movie!

We're already a month into 2022 and there's no stopping the Talking Simpsons Network from plugging along! In fact, all our podcasts are so far ahead we're already looking towards March! That's because, in addition to all our regular releases like Talking Simpsons, What A Cartoon, Talking Futurama, or TalKing of the Hill, we plan to end the third month of the year with another of our  $10 premium podcasts, and we'll need your help to decide what we'll be covering in March 2022.

For those of you who are new to the Talking Simpsons Patreon, WELCOME. Also, you should know that once a month we release the What A Cartoon Movie! podcast, an extra-long discussion about an animated feature film, exclusively for our $10+ Patreon subscribers. And when we open up the voting for each month's subject, we want all the $5 subscribers to also have a chance to be heard too, so those subscribers can help pick episodes they might enjoy down the line!

Our next 2022 poll has us covering a part of animation history we haven't touched much: Walt Disney's theatrical golden age. Yes, we're laying out four different options for you among Disney's original theatrical releases, all of which were huge moments for the genre of animation worldwide!

So here are the four Disney Classics you'll be voting on:

Bambi (1942) - As the seasons change we all grow together with the prince of the forest in this naturalistic tale of a young prince that greatly advanced animation technology!

Dumbo (1941) - You may have seen a lot of things, but rarely have you seen an elephant fly, let alone see that same elephant get drunk or cry his eyes out as he's separated from his mother!

Pinocchio (1940) - The little wooden Italian boy with no strings who taught the world to fear lying, actors, showbiz, and smoking cigars with redheads!

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) - The one that started it all, proving that a full-length animation feature wasn't just possible, but also very popular!

So please, make your choice known before the poll closes on the night of February 7! And thanks as always for your continued support of our podcasts—we couldn't keep doing all our super-deep movie podcasts without you!

Wow, people really hate Bambi

Seth

I voted for Bambi but I hope Pinocchio wins so I can hear Henry and Bob talk about the very dark original story.

To be fair, early Disney like this was a major influence.

Bennett Billard

Given that a whopping 4 versions are on the way, the time seems right for Pinocchio.

Bennett Billard

Alright Pinocchio. That snes game is also one of the best looking games on there!!

Michael Branson

Pinocchio is favorite from the Walt era

Christoper Cross

Gotta go with Pinocchio because, while Snow White did set the foundation for the feature-length animated movie, it was Pinocchio that perfected it.

I’m going with Pinocchio. Never seen it in its entirety so this will be like watching it go the first time.

Mario Molina

I’m all for a Pinocchio episode. Already mentioned the Pleasure Island scene in the comments before, but the Monstro scene is also a spectacular example of what the Disney studio could do at the time. It’s intense, visceral, and fast in a way a live-action film could never be at the time.

Harry Thornton

By coincidence I just watched these all for the first time like a month ago. They’re all good but Pinocchio was the pinnacle for me, such a strange but incredible film, very Ghibli-like in places.

Mikey Cox

I would absolutely love a Pinocchio episode! I like the other movies too, but I didn't watch them nearly as much.

Snow White it’s home for me in that when I was a boy I had it on VHS and it was my favorite film to watch….until it burned in a fire along with my house, then for the longest time I didn’t see it because of A.) Disney Vault, and B.) when it finally did get a rerelease I was in middle school and thought I was too old for those films. So I didn’t get it until the Diamond Edition blu-ray (also my first Blu-Ray.) it’s also interesting in that my favorite scenes where when Snow White gets lost in the first and you had all those Scary faces in the trees, and the shot of the Queen descending her stairs in one scene. I don’t know why those 2 imprinted on me at such an early age but it’s a testament to how good the animation and art is. Also I wouldn’t say no to Pinocchio either, also a fun film I didn’t get until (actually the same time as Snow White on Blu-ray as well.)

Kiefer Fulsom

Really hoping Snow White is picked for the historical significance and personally because it’s one of my favorite Disney movies.
