Is your guest danhausen? The only person I can think of with an injured leg. Great pods BTW. Always interesting and entertaining. X

I'm not in the loop anymore but hearing Henry say "Puerto Rican - American" was the first time I've heard that phrase to describe a person, and it hit me as odd. Has the phrase started to be more used to help get more people to understand that Puerto Ricans are American citizens?

I also watched muppet Christmas carol for the first time in at least 6 years this years and I got say, whatever you feel about the movie, that opening song is a banger. As a musical, this one comes out with both guns blazing.

Emily VanDerWerff had an interesting article about how she viewed Matrix Resurrections' take on therapy (spoilers obviously) https://www.vox.com/culture/22847558/the-matrix-resurrections-4-spoilers-review-neo-therapy-mental-health-trauma

Apolgies for the misgendering. I'm trying my best to use gender-neutral words to refer to people who I don't know the gender of, particularly online, but will try to do better. - Henry

I also saw Richard Donner’s Scrooged this year for the first time and I really agree with the sentiment expressed in the podcast. Bill Murray steals the spotlight too much and it really hurts the flow of the film. The supporting cast is excellent but they barely get any room to breathe. Overall, it was just okay. It’s no Muppets Christmas Carol, I’ll say that much. Thanks so much for reading my Grinch comment. Although, I do wanna mention I am a girl. Looking forward a new year of Talking Simpsons!

I'm a sicko who is so starved for SMASH discourse that I've been waiting for TTTA just to hear Henry talk about it. The show is jam packed with takes and meta narrative that pays off so well for any What A Cartoon fan. I've watched the season 3 times to show it to people (again, sicko), and I keep finding new reasons to love them consistent world that was written. I feel the same fear that it might slink into obscurity and get the Netflix quiet death. Tldr: This show is zuzzy zazz.

I'm definitely over the whole need to rank Simpsons episodes. For me, I could probably narrow it down to 10 episodes, most of which from seasons 3-6, and the arrangement of which would just fluctuate to a certain degree with maybe the top 5 always remaining in the top 5. Last Exit is probably still a top 10 episode for me, maybe top 15. Pauper is still bottom tier for Seasons 2-9. I saw a lot of positive reception on Twitter to the new Mother Simpson episode. I watched it and my take was more in-line with our hosts here. I do not like the retconning of already great episodes. If they want to retcon something, show us more of why Homer hates New York or some of Abe's cross-dressing escapades. And if they had to touch Mother Simpson, maybe address the only weak part of the episode by giving her higher stakes and a better reason to run away. Every time I watch that episode I find it sweet, but it bothers me she would abandon Homer out of fear of jail time. How much was she really facing? That's me being nitpicky though. And maybe they have addressed that since and I'm just unaware. Mother Simpson is the only Mona episode I'm really familiar with. My kids love Home Alone so I've seen a lot of it recently. Surprisingly, they're not that into Home Alone 2 this year. They were more so last year and I think, as kids, they like the escalation from the first, but it's almost like a drug that's since worn off. And that's all that sequel is, just the first film times 10 and I'm convinced it was the only way to make a worthwhile sequel out of that first film. The plot was so implausible that making it happen again seems like a fool's errand. I think that's primarily why all of the reboots just flop, plus none of them could land a cast as good as that first film.

If Southpark wins, they should follow up with these covid movies they've been releasing on paramount plus
