Vote On The November 2021 What A Cartoon Movie!

It's fall already, can you believe it? And we here at Talking Simpsons Network are already planning out podcasts all the way into the end of 2021! As we enter October, we're still hard at work on Talking Simpsons and What A Cartoon, as well as our next miniseries, Blabbin 'Bout Batman: The Animated Series! Last but hardly least, there's our once-a-month $10 premium podcast, and we'll need your help to decide what we'll be covering in November.

Currently, we're so far ahead in podcast recordings that we've already recorded October's What A Cartoon Movie! (Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker), meaning that now we have time open on our schedule to record our November 2021 movie podcast, and we can start on that as soon as you choose the subject for us!

For those of you who are new to the Talking Simpsons Patreon, WELCOME. Also, you should know that once a month we release the What A Cartoon Movie! podcast, an extra-long discussion about an animated feature film, exclusively for our $10+ Patreon subscribers. And when we open up the voting for each month's subject, we want all the $5 subscribers to also have a chance to be heard, so those subscribers can help pick episodes they might enjoy down the line!

And as we near the holiday season next month, we felt it's time to cover a seasonal classic from all our childhoods: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer! It was an amazing accomplishment for stop-motion all the way back in 1964, so its history will be so much fun to discuss, as will the many poorly aged things about its story of a unique reindeer child!

But we still want it to be the choice of our patrons. And so, as we've done in the past with these types of movie podcasts, we're leaving this up to you all as a yes or no option in our monthly poll. If you want us to be teleported back to the world of dentist elves, vote "YES." And if you would prefer a different poll for the November movie podcast, then vote "NO" and we'll do a different poll with four choices after that.

So please, make your choice known before the poll closes on the night of October 7! Thanks as always for your continued support of our podcast, we hope you enjoy whatever wins!

A definite yes vote for me. It's the best of Rankin and Bass. The darkness of this special is what makes it great. There are so many ways you can attach meaning to this story I fell it says a lot about the workplace. An underrated character is the middle manager elf. He main goal is to impress Santa by making the elves sing a song and putting on a fake voice whenever Santa is around. Santa is an indifferent owner that is only concerned about what you can do for him.  If you come out as different you are ostracized unless they find a way you to exploit your weirdness to serve the organization. Or maybe it's time I update my resume. Haha

Looking forward to this one. Also, just a thought. In light of the hosts more progressive views, it would be nice to give the lower tier patrons picks to what cartoon to pick. The pay more to pick scheme that’s now ending seems a bit like what the hosts often rail against so I’m glad that’s ending. But yeah give a few 5-10 bucks patrons a chance to choose

While I'd rather see the Heat Mizer and Snow mizer, I say yes and hope they're tangentially touched upon in that universe

if we vote YES on this, i will up my pledge to 10bux

It's only natural that your first Rankin-Bass episode be their most well-know work.

This movie was never really a thing in the UK, but the episodes where Bob is genuinely enthusiastic about something are some of my favourites, so go ahead!

Adam Elmahdi

100% agree!

I'm voting yes, but this has got me thinking about how I'd like y'all to tackle Over the Garden Wall. It's technically a series, but since the combined runtime is a little over two hours, it's technically movie length! It might be a bit cumbersome, but I think doing a whole WAC Movie episode would be so worth it Idk, I just want you guys to cover the show XD

Tashmon Dimps

Legit hyped for this

I have had many thoughts on this. At first I thought “no!”, but then when I heard Bob say he really wanted to do it then I felt better. Then I got excited about the Rankin & Bass history, but my favorite is also “The Year Without a Santa Claus” because of the Snow Miser and Heat Miser characters. But I looks like Rudolf will win. So Bob & Henry please give a shout out to Snow Miser and Heat Miser. They are really stupid but they kept coming back…

Voted no because the one I have the most fondness for is that Santa Claus origins one with old man winter and Burgermeister Meisterburger. I love the songs in that one. "Put one foot in front of the other", and Santa as a young and scrappy protagonist is a much better character than Rudolph who at best reacts to events around him.

Voting 'yes' just for history on Rankin/Bass.

voting yes because Rankin and Bass always has a lot of discussion ground to cover, but devil on my shoulder wants to vote no in favor of something wacky like WB's direct to video hit Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer
