TalKing of the Hill - How to Fire a Rifle Without Really Trying

Welcome to the season premiere of TalKing of the Hill Season 2 Part 1! This week, we're covering King of the Hill's gun episode—which could have ended up "very special,"  but it's 1997 and the show takes place in Texas. Listen in and find out where to find the children's guns section in your local superstore, how to fit into a father/son poncho, and the amount of points you lose by blowing away an entire picnicking family. Thanks again for your support, and look forward to another great miniseries!

I haven't seen it mentioned but Wallace Shawn in the rainbow wig is a parody of a guy, Rollen Stewart, who would position himself in high profile shots in sporting events during the 1970s and 1980s wearing a rainbow wig and holding a John 3:16 sign. His story . . . does not end well.

This episode reminds me of going shooting with my dad in the early 90s. My dad said I could go shooting and have my own chipmunk rifle (small 22) if I could read the gun safety pamphlet. Which I was able to successfully memorize at the age of 6. We use to go to a creepy range in the basement of a gun store weekly. I mainly went to get candy out of the vending machine and on the hope that we'd stop at Bi-Mart and I'd get a new Barbie dress. I remember always begging my dad for a Saddam Hussain gun target, but his rule was that targets couldn't have people on them. FYI, I grew up in Yakima, WA, but I now live in the South (North Carolina).
