What A Cartoon! - Psycho-Pass "Crime Coefficient"

This week our top-level patron David is back and he's got another new anime for us: Psycho-Pass! This scarily believable cyberpunk story is an exciting sci-fi series, and after going through the deep history of animation studio Production I.G., we detail our thoughts about the show's first episode, "Crime Coefficient." Listen now lest you endanger your hue...
I'm a bit late on this one but having just watched the first episode I was pleasantly surprised. I'll definitely give the rest of the first season a chance. I have been introduced to a couple good anime's because of What a Cartoon. You guys are doing a great job and I hope you keep up with these less mainstream anime's in the future.

My friends who are more into anime than I am hadn't heard of Psycho-Pass before I'd asked them about it when you guys put out the January WAC schedule, so I had no idea what to expect going in, and I was VERY pleasantly surprised. I bought the first "deluxe" episode off of YouTube, so I watched the first two of the original version, and was captivated the whole time. Initially when the premise was being explained in the episode, I definitely thought of Minority Report and how a thousand other (Western) stories have explored the idea of pre-crime to the point that I'm sick of it. However, even in such a small amount of content as the 40-some minutes I watched, this genuinely did a good job of bringing new directions to it and hammering home broader social implications beyond the morality and accuracy debates of other stories.

It's unfortunate that it sounds as though season 2 and 3 aren't quite as good, but this is going on my list of shows that I wanna go through as a whole once I'm able (and done the ones I'm currently on).
