Well ill be dammed, this episode disproved something that ever since I first saw thought was a reference to the film 101 Dalmatians. Let me explain, during the scene where Bart & Lisa are herding the puppies into the laundry chute (which itself is based off the scene where to puppies escape Jasper in Horace in the film) there’s a shot where we hold on the doorknob it rattles, & slowly turns with a slow zoom in at the end. FOR THE LONGEST TIME, EVER SINCE I FIRST SAW THIS EPISODE TEN PLUS YEARS AGO, I thought this was a shot for shot scene, straight from the movie with a close up & zoom on a doorknob in the escape from De Vil Manor scene. However I recently watched the scene from 101 Dalmatians to discover to my surprise no such scene exists in the movie. Though this could be during this scene Alf Clausen’s score does closely mirror the music from the scene in the movie, and I just assumed it was lifted from 101 Dalmatians. Also during the see my best number the maid that cameos while musically being a spoof of Mrs. Potts from Beauty and the Beast, her design is Nanny from 101 Dalmatians, just one of those awesome attentions to detail.
