'Scream' was a perfect horror movie for its time. My 90's time machine told me so. Ha.

Ah, as you can see, the thing about "Scream" is that it plays off the popularity of previous slasher films of the 80s, so it does spoil some for previous movies that had been out and part of pop culture for a while, but it's more about the tropes those movies used and plays around with them, with the stating the "rules" and such. At the time, most people had seen the previous movies since they were popular and not that far removed, time-wise. There's also a lot of little hints/Easter Eggs about previous horror movies strewn throughout. It's a great movie, but definitely helps the experience if you've seen the other classic movies first. I'm just at the beginning of your viewing. Ihope you still enjoyed it, even without already knowing the tropes and the previous movies' details. I always felt it works as both a horror movie and a bit of a satirical look at horror movies.
