The job of a Paratrooper is to jump behind enemy lines, capture and hold an area while being surrounded by the enemy until the "regular" Army pushes in relives the paratroopers. Although the 101st never jumped into Bastogne, they did get surrounded by the enemy and held Bastogne till the rest of the Army showed up. To the men of EZ and the rest of the paratroopers, they did there job to perfection, and being labeled as "rescued" is an insult to all paratroopers.

2022-03-27 23:17:38 +0000 UTCYou misunderstood the ending. The men of EZ company and the rest of the paratroopers that were part of the 101st didn’t think they needed help. They were basically the driving force of certain parts of the war and they dealt with so much, the fact that people said they needed to be rescued was essentially an insult to them at that point.
