None of them expected to be sent home. The war wasn't close to over, and they all knew they were there for the duration. NCO = Non-Commissioned Officer. Sergeants. That is NOT Samwise. Sam is played by Sean Aston. Sgt. Denver "Bull" Randleman is played by Michael Cudlitz. The ribbon that Pvt Miller (James McAvoy) took off was a Presidential Unit Citation. You talked over the dialogue that explained that. It is the highest unit level award for heroism, and is worn by everybody in the unit. Those who were not part of the unit when it was received only where the award while they're in that unit. Those who were there wear it in perpetuity, regardless of what unit they're in. Miller didn't get in trouble. Cobb was just being a dick. When Bull Randleman was fighting the German soldier in the barn, the reason the German didn't shoot him is that his weapon misfired. That's why he was trying to eject the cartridge when Bull came back at him. And it is extremely unlikely the girl thought Bull was a German. The uniforms were completely different, and he was speaking English. She was a kid who had just watched a man die a very violent death. That's traumatizing, even if that death meant she got to live. The Dutch were on the Americans' side. They had been occupied by the Germans for over four years by this point. The Germans were the ones who bombed Eindhoven, because the Americans had a presence there.

2025-08-17 08:47:39 +0000 UTCJust to help clear out why the one man asked to have his leg tapped when the light turned green on the plane prior to the jump was because he's color blind. He couldn't tell anyone as he would have been kicked out of the airborne :)
