Chapter 1
Mages fulfil a wide role of jobs in the world of Mirnos, and while their position is currently very militaristic in Alderay due to the war, this wasn't always the case, nor is it still their only active duty.
While many mages can reach high positions and unlock very powerful abilities, only a handful of Mages ever truly achieve the rank of 'Grandmage,' these beings are born not only with extremely exceptional gifts towards their respective magecrafts, but also devote a lifetime of study and commitment towards it.
There has never been more than fourteen grand mages at once in the entire history of Mirnos.
Mages are divided into 4 main Schools
-The Mages of Palam (Dominantly healers, but they are capable of combat)
-The Disciples of Skorn (Mages who wield elemental type magecraft, note: this does not mean ALL disciples are masters of all the elements, a mage can spend an entire life-time devoted to just mastering one of the elements).
-The Servants of Dresha (Mages who occupy more obscure abilities, such as foresight into possible futures, mind-reading and other fabled abilities still not fully understood).
-The Inquisitors (Any of the above Schools allow their students to opt instead to become inquisitors, whereas the focus of their studies shifts from solely harnessing their magical potential, and instead moves them into a more diverse split between physical combat training, their magical abilities AND training in deceptive warfare. Inquisitors are considered the weakest magically of all the schools, but they are not to be trifled with, their diverse range of talents makes them one of Alderay's greatest weapons and arguably more dangerous than all of the others).
Is has been noted that other lesser known Schools of magecraft have been recorded in places such as Ramon, but little research has been done into these fields yet and they seem to be a minority.
As a full disclaimer under the order of Head inquisitor Marion Valdes, any discussion of dark mages or 'Black magecraft' users having their own School of magecraft, either historically from a time before, or going as far as to suggest a future School devoted to their wicked craft, is punishable by death or imprisonment. Dark mages have never occupied a position of worth in our history, and are to be eliminated as a scourge.

Comments
You as the player do not possess magic, (you instead have the parasite) other characters in your party may have magic. In the world of Mirnos, you are either born with magic or you aren't, and if it's the latter you can't then 'learn' magic. (Secondly) Mind reading if it's shown will probably one be done by one or two characters, the 'abnormal' magics are extremely rare in-world, with the most common type simply posessing elemental magics.

2022-11-05 14:58:48 +0000 UTC1st question - Can we learn magic in-game? 2nd question - How is mind reading going to be implemented? Depending on how this is done, it will technically be the most broken.
