Anomaly Incident Report (May 2022 Prompt)

The following are transcripts of a collection of audio recordings taken by the scientist Doctor Reeds and his experience after exposure to the meteorite here referred to as ‘BU1K’. These recordings are for scientific examination and any usage deemed inappropriate would be grounds for reprimand. Included with the collection are photographs taken during the observation of and exposure to the item ‘BU1K’

Recording 1, 01/05/20XX; 22:26

— Audio Begin —

This is Doctor Richard Reeds.

The meteorite crashed and landed approximately 2 hours ago when reports from local civilians caught sight of the object burning through the atmosphere before making ground within the wooded area of the forest. The area has been cordoned off by local law enforcement and park rangers. With the risk of fire and smoke inhalation no longer being considered a danger, I have been allowed to approach and examine the meteorite. Prior to approaching in the required hazmat suit, readings of the area show no danger of radiation due to levels being normal readings with background recordings.

It seems the meteorite has cooled down before I arrived. The object measures approximately two meters in diameter, landing within a crater that measured at four meters at the deepest point. It is noted that surrounding plant life that should have burned upon impact outside the crater seemed unharmed by the entry of the heated meteor, infact, the plant life surrounding the crater seemed larger compared to other plant life in the surrounding area. Samples were taken of some of the plant life including the soil to see if there were any risks of contamination from the meteorite despite the time not being long enough to cause any significant changes to occur.

The meteorite was partially damaged to extract samples, with a collection of the outer layer being scrapped and chipped. During this process the interior of the meteorite was revealed, showcasing what appeared to be a crystalline geode structure. Samples of the Crystals were collected and brought back to the lab for further testing.

Included with recording 1 is a photograph showcasing the mentioned meteorite resting in a crater, the noted plant growth is seen as some of the wild flowers near the crater were growing out and over the burnt edge of the crater. Standing by the meteor is a humanoid figure suited in a hazmat suit, helping to showcase the size of the rust green rock.

Recording 2, 02/05/20XX; 08:39

— Audio Begin —

This is Doctor Reeds opening statement. Have begun documentation of the samples taken yesterday. Initial testing has shown that most of the materials seem to be inert with trace elements detected that are already commonly found on earth. Despite the odd colouration of the samples which imply oxidisation despite the brief time in earth’s atmosphere, the materials seem to be stable in their form with no observable decomposition or deterioration. Will begin to cross test the samples with - SHIT!

**Audio disrupted for 2.7 minutes**

Apologies, during removal of samples from a centrifuge, one of the test tubes had broken, spilling the sample across the floor. With the current weather situation at the site of the meteorite crash causing retrieval of further samples compromised due to potential contamination, it is imperative to be careful with remaining samples.

I think I should grab something to eat, skipping breakfast must have led to a lapse in judgement with handling the sample. Will resume when I return.

Recording 3, 02/05/20XX; 12:45

— Audio Begins —

This is Richard Reeds, I fear I might have made a mistake.

After the dropping of sample three-point-two, i had assumed to have taken all safety precautions as had a decontamination shower along with destroying my clothing. However, whilst eating it was noted there was an increase in my appetite, resulting in eating more than usual. Whilst this would be seen as unnecessary information for the research, it is relevant as when checking my hands, I noticed traces of the sample being caught under my fingernails. I have since gone into quarantine and began sending recordings and research to fellow colleagues. I have also taken photographs of myself as I have already begun to notice changes. As seen it is noted that my weight has increased exponentially in spite of the limited amount of food I have taken prior.

**A growling sound is heard along with a grunting**

Oh, sorry, it seems my appetite has increased. I. I need to eat something. Will make a note soon.

Included with the recording are two photographs, the first one showed Doctor Reeds standing by a collection of shelves, head just reaching the top shelf as the Doctor stood in profile, showing the slight increase in his stomach, his clean shaven face having a slight shadow of stubble. The photograph is time stamp at 12:39

The second photo whilst taken at the same location depicted a larger man. Now standing so his chest was level with the top shelf, The depicted man was significantly fatter than before, his large fat rolls having scraps of clothing caught in as a large gut spilled out further, brushing down against the doctor’s thicker thighs. The man’s face, a fatter version of Doctor Reeds, now sporting a bushy beard. The time stamp at 19:53.

Recording 4, 03/05/20XX; 09;15

— Audio Begin —

It’s gotten worse. I woke up this morning to my bed collapsing under me. I don’t even remember going to bed last night, all I remember was eating everything in the on-site break room.

Attempts at leaving my quarters have proven difficult due to my… enlarged frame. If I was at my original height I would estimate my weight at easily over five-hundred pounds, however during the growth it saw my height expand even more so, forcing myself to crouch to avoid hitting the ten foot high ceilings.

Whilst myself and fellow researchers have attempted to search for a treatment, I’m afraid the growth spurts have begun to…ohhh… increase and.. uh.. and strengthen.

** Sound of groaning filling along with heavy thuds**

The growth just keeps getting stronger… and I keep getting hungry.. It’s almost like my body is compensating for the lack of nutrients by… by…

Fuck it… we need to get a handle on… oh god..

** Crashing heard, followed by sounds of the recording being dropped before picked back up**

I outgrew my quarters… it.. it can’t keep up like this… but… oddly it feels so good… so big and soft… just expanding out and growing more… and more… and more.

Oh God. I want it all. I want to outgrow the place.. just keep growing more and more… god my ass just crushed the training room, and I can’t even see it. Just

Included with the final transcript an area photo of the remains of site 13. Seated across where the site was is an immensely fat man, covered in thick body hair as he feeds on a tube connected to a series of trucks. Each truck despite being 18 wheeler fuel tankers only compare to the size of the giant man’s forearms. The huge blob like man was caught might drink, looking up to the camera as their other free hand was raised in a wave.

Conclusions:

This saw the destruction of Site 13 and a reminder to all personnel to adhere to safety protocol.

To prevent further growth of Doctor Richard Reeds, a regular shipment of a a classified substance is bought and consumed by the doctor. Between the hours of 15-16, medical checks are performed and samples of the giant are taken.

Search for a cure to halt and reverse the growth are ongoing, in spite of the doctor’s protests.
