I cannot tell you how much I’m going to miss this series, either! I am glad you see the vision! Not that we’re guaranteed any “True” interpretation, but the connection to Novak and Rafal from Albert’s mind really hit me hard in this episode – I can’t wait to read the manga! I miss our Kid Rafal, though! And yes, this series gives no quick and easy answers! And I do love the idea to stay curious and keep trying to learn – I love the idea of having wonder in the world, and this series has really opened up my eyes and allowed me to witness a lot of things that would go against the teachings of Ol’ Hubert in this! 😛 I think that is fabulous about being a lifelong learner and I want to do similar! MONGOLIAN THROAT SINGING! That is crazy cool, though! I hope that they at least took to heart that it’s okay to try and learn something new! As we should! Thank you for the comment and kind words - this series was so beautiful and I have enjoyed it so much week to week - I am excited to get the manga, though! Ooohhh, the Darwin Incident – interesting! I may have to add that to the polling list for sure! Or if I send out ideas for a future show, feel free to share that again! Today was the first day the temps got above freezing in a week, but like you said, it’s supposed to rain and refreeze for tomorrow – I just got back to work last week because the roads were clear so thank you! I hope you get to being able to travel around again and thank you for the Carl Sagan link! It honestly made me tear up! SO thank you for that – because it was in a good way!

I LOVE that thesis that what you did mattered, even if your name is forgotten! “You can’t kill an idea” is so powerful a concept! Oohhhhh, I did not take away that the different times of night/day followed Rafal to Draka – that’s SUCH a great connection to make! Yes, this series is so timely and I know I will need the manga now! It’s just so good! Thank you for the support and joining me on the journey with this series!

I'm so happy to find another fellow Orb obsessor who will pass down this anime to future generations to come. As I said earlier, One of the most beautiful thesis of Orb is that even if no one remembers your name or knows what you did in life, what you did will have mattered. The tiny spark of curiosity can give rise to a revolutionary idea even if someone in the past suppressed it for their own selfish desires. You can kill a human but you can't kill an idea. Just like young Rafal said: "It spreads like an epidemic. Not even the host can control it". When the heretic in ep 5 said "Truth can be born from the ashes of the dead" I feel like it was a symbolism for the events of ep 23. All the sacrifices we see in the last scene (Rafal, Oczy, Draka) showcased different times of the day and just like that they moved the earth figuratively. There’s so much to take away from this anime, and so much of it is timely.

2026-01-28 05:25:23 +0000 UTCI will miss this series! Yes, Albert is the only real character in this story. I agree, he is the main character. When I first read this, I was really confused! NGL, I didn’t like Rafal killing anyone! Not our sweet Rafal!!! Hell, I didn’t even know if either version of Rafal was real! He is sooooooo different from how he starts out in the story, it’s like he is a totally different character! He is! As I hear you talk about your ideas about Novak and Rafal…. I have to look up something in the manga…..yeah when we see Novak for the first time, killing a man….When I read the manga, I always thought the boy who witnessed it was Albert. So yes, two versions of Novak/Rafal check out! I never got the parallel universe vibe reading the manga. Quick and easy answers…. That is not this series! I think this last episode really crystallized the overall message being to stay curious and to find wonder in the world, be a learner! As someone who does not believe in any gods, I’m sure there are those who think people who do not have God in their lives must be dull and have no wonder for the world. I do hear this claim all the time. It’s the opposite, I have so much wonder and I tend to be the optimist. I have prided myself on being a life long learner. I try to learn something new all the time! Whatever tickles my fancy! I have been trying to learn (very badly) Mongolian throat singing. So I make noises to practice all the time, at home, in the office… in the car! I suck at it. One of my coworkers asked me what I was doing and I told them. They were puzzled as to why I would do this to my vocal cords. I told them that I always try to learn something new, even if I fail at it. I stressed to my coworker that it is important to always be a learner. I don’t know if they took my advice to heart. I loved your analysis of this series. I got to say, the art in the manga is a bit ambiguous. You will see why. I think they did a great job on the anime for sure! It stuck the landing! I just started on another series that just came out and an anime, The Darwin Incident. So far I like the series very much. It’s Sci Fi and I only have the first volume of the manga so far. I hope it comes up on a future pole! We are almost thawed out…. But it will refreeze and be ice tomorrow. Haven’t been to work all week due to the roads.
