Nicolas commissioned this movie for the month and going in blind was an EXPERIENCE! A perfect encapsulation of a specific point in time we can all relate to -- I feel humbled, I feel disturbed, I feel seen and called out - and I haven't gone from laughing out loud to shuddering so fast in a while. What a journey - thank you, Nicolas, for the commission!

I may have to get into some of his other things in the future! Oohh, and thank you for the recommendation of the performers - that style definitely rang a chord with me, so I may have to give them a listen! And FREE SOCKO!! This poor dude. I honestly appreciated how he was talking so earnestly about his experience as a content creator and how he felt during the pandemic β it was so relatable! Themes of resistance aplenty! This was a really fun experience β especially with the fact that you were unaware of what was coming and his style of performance and humour. π I especially find the sheer musicality of what he puts together just really fun to listen to regardless of the content. If you were ever interested in more performers in this particular vein β Tim Minchin and Reggie Watts are definitely some I would recommend. I think my favourite song is still How the World Works with Socko. Free Socko! Now themes of resistance?! I meanβ¦ βA little bit of everything! All of the time!β π Here to me the most interesting form of resistance is what you noted about him speaking from a place of utter and complete sincerity, especially to his own experience. That kind of honesty is true defiance against our current reality, I feel. Alsoβ¦ I guess it was Bo inside Angelβs Egg all along...
