*WAXING HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

We meet Badeni proper in this episode and oooooh, I'm already a huge fan of his character and backstory that's led him to meet Oczy and put his adrenaline and intelligence junkie tendencies to the test! Will this team up though truly change the world for the better? Let's talk about it!

I’m so glad you all are getting some fun out of my attempts at Polish! XD I love the contrast of Badeni being super religious but also a “man of science!” That Emoticon with his “NO” hahahaha - yes! I love that Badeni’s like, “It’s YOU who is wrong!: XD I do love that Badeni views his talents and intelligences as a blessing from God - yeah, there’s arrogance there, but he’s curious and also faithful - and yes, I can see that as a Christian way to see talents! And I love Badeni’s curiosity as well! But man…SCARY and a masochist perhaps but it’s impressive if anything! I mean, what would he think of Rafal poisoning himself to not give in…hmm…he’d probably have issues with it to be honest! But yes, the church was devious for that phrase to try and control people…but man, it’s a phrase that is not easy to control, especially with humans! Thank you so much for the comment!

Yesss, public health PSA all the way! Badeni is so full of himself but also pushing for knowledge - it’s so engaging and fun to watch! He definitely has a rare level of intellectual curiosity and is if Rafal had been chaotic neutral, maybe? Or chaotic evil? 😛 I am not against hairstyles - I love how it shows our culture and our identity and says so much about us…I just feel for them having bald heads that would sunburn! Yikes! And huzzah for mullets and baby bangs! 😀Business…or business casual in the front and party in the back haha! Very much like Badeni? Oczy is an absolute angel of a being! I was so proud of him looking at the stars! And yes, Badeni and Oczy are the “odd couple” of this arc so far for sure! Thank you for the kind words - the soup kitchen really hit hard because it’s in my hometown and the level of need for someone to go and receive that food says a lot. Looking back, I remember my parents taking me to this store that had a lot of “free samples” with food - while it was to get bulk food at a discount, the benefit was that I also got to stock up on food as an insatiable kid eating and growing up to help relieve the burden from my parents. Or at least, that’s how I view what was going on. There’s a lot of stigma around food insecurity where I’m from, but dang it, you just want people to be able to live! That’s such a great story! And a planetarium at that! I love that moment you all got there. Thank you for the comment!

Great reaction and discussion!! Your reactions to polish words are hilarious XD I really love how deeply religious Badeni is while still questioning everything around him. He sees the inconsistencies in how people see the world around him and is like. "NO >:( For sure is not a God's mistake. Its just that human perception of the world that's lacking, not the God's design of it. >:[" I really appreciate they way they written it, not making Badeni abandon his faith, just disagree with how OTHERS perceive it. In most cases, in anime i think it would go the route of disillusionment and atheism. But here, its very clear that Badani believes in God very deeply and has faith in his design. Its really nice to see. Also really love how Badeni sees himself as blessed by God because how talented he is. Its in part arrogance but I really love that apart of curiosity, his reasoning for wanting to know more is that he sees his own inaction as squandering the gift God have him. Thats a really christian way to see talents, as even now when christian people are really talented, they see it as their own mission from God to use those talents and do something good with them as a part of God's plan. I love Badeni's curiosity so much! The fact that he is willing to hurt himself and LITERALLY get blinded just for a scrap of knowledge is so impressive and scary at the same time. There is just something about this huge thirst to know that is very compelling to see. After all, without curiosity, we would still be sitting in the caves, hitting rocks together. Because what is curiosity if not the constant push to invent and observe new things and work out solutions to problems that seem impossible? "Curiosity is a sin." The church truly was the evil genius for inventing that rule. Its the most propaganda way of keeping the masses away from knowledge, away from trying to change things for better, away from rebelling against the unfairness of the ruling class. If curiosity is a sin then they cannot ask why some people don't have enough food to eat while the top of the church is drowning in delicacies.

I am so glad that you mentioned that we all start out life as a female. Most people don’t know this or have forgotten. That’s why guys have boobies! And they can get breast cancer, so guys have to check themselves as well! Ok, got the public health info out of the way. 😊 I absolutely love Badeni! Oh, he is full of himself for sure, but punishing himself for knowledge? When I read that I literally screamed a happy scream. What a guy! “For as long as punishment earns me the freedom of study.” Yup. I fell hard. I just want to say that this level of intellectual curiosity is rare! Tonsure! I’m glad you looked that up. I had to look that up when I was reading some other story. Hair is such a way of signaling who and what people are. I’m actually very interested in it on some level. Heck, people get in trouble by having their hair in a certain style to protest, or identify with a repressed peoples. I just find it fascinating. Btw, I sport a very cute mullet with baby bangs. 😌 Oczy, what a puppy dog of a person! I am so glad he grew enough to look at the sky. The universe is truly magnificent! Oczy and Badeni, an odd couple for sure! Love it! This was such a good discussion that got to the heart of the power structure of the church and its world view. Your story about the soup kitchen just touched me. I need to volunteer my time when my life settles down. Just a small story from my childhood: My mother used to love to take us kids, my sister and I, to the Adler Planetarium. We loved looking at the stars, my mom loved to take a nap in the comfy chairs in a dark room. It was a win win!
