My eyes were GLUED to Gong Jun the entire episode! How dare they emote so well! Yesss, the revelation! And those are great callbacks to his knowledge of medicine that hit different now! Thank you for mentioning those! I love touching on the theme of being a “good person.” No good deed goes unpunished, right? That’s a great connection about WKX”s dad not knowing a lot about the martial arts world! I LOVE your note about healers and mechanics against the “fighters!” Yes! And that’s a great catch about being a parental figure! I will definitely have to talk about your comment in the episodes to come! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Another great reaction! This series is so good! I was actually thinking this a few episodes back, but I really appreciate the way you go through the episode at the end and discuss it in detail. It allows us to watch along with you in real-time without constant interruptions of stopping the video, and then afterwards we get to dive into the deeper analysis together. Plus, if there’s anything you might have missed during the first watch, you often pick up on it during the discussion. I also have to say — even though I’ve seen this series before, you still manage to bring up points during your discussions that I either didn’t catch or didn’t fully understand the first time I watched. It’s honestly really refreshing and makes the whole experience even more interesting! You also do a solid job of piecing things together as you go, even with the breaks between episodes — which I find really impressive. And as for the whole "why would you think this or that..." — I actually think it’s great that you share your own thoughts and theories as you go. Even if you don’t always land exactly on what’s happening, it’s much more enjoyable to hear your perspective and watch your genuine reactions as the story unfolds and you piece things together. That’s exactly how it should be, in my opinion. If everyone just immediately had the same “correct” interpretation, reaction videos wouldn’t be nearly as much fun to watch.

Not being able to focus on the story because of how WKX and ZZS act is very relatable 😭 They are so tender and careful with each other that it drives me insane. I also could not get my eyes off Gong Jun's face, too!! Finally the revelation is here!! Knowing that WKX's parents are healers makes some of his earlier comments hit differently. He mentioned as early as episode 2 that he has some medical knowledge from his family, when he offered to treat Chengling's wound. And when he threatened Qin Song and casually said his dad taught him the human body has 206 bones. Kinda weirdly specific thing for a parent to teach your kid, right? But if you're a healer, it tracks. And kinda unsettling that WKX was using that information to threaten and torture his enemies lol. I rewatch this episode a lot, and really like to think about the themes they are trying to portray. You already mentioned the one about rumors and what the truth really are. I find the significance of WKX’s parents being these two healers very interesting. In a way, the story would still work if he were Rong Xuan’s son, he would still have a pretty good motive for revenge there. So what does the story want to highlight by making him the child of these particular people instead? There’s a strong emphasis on being a "good person." Long Que is called a good person, but he suffers while protecting his friends, his son hates him and did terrible things to him. WKX’s parents are described as being “too good for the world” and ended up dying. They are the ones who stand quietly on the sidelines while the five brothers and Rong Xuan fight over martial art technique. In the flashback, WKX’s father was confused about why Shen Shen smashed the cup and has to be told by Rong Xuan that it’s just a custom of the martial arts world. So even if he taught WKX any fighting skills or not, he wasn’t really knowledgeable about the martial arts world overall. The healers and the mechanic are mostly there to support the fighters, sometimes even to their own detriment, and what happens to them in the end? This is an interesting theme at play here, especially considering our two main characters. ZZS agonises over not being a good person and is trying to be one, while WKX was insisting and putting up a facade that he is one (Philanthropist Wen), or not even caring if he is perceived as one anymore (after he discovered ZZS's condition) I also really like the theme of parental love woven throughout this episode. Everyone present in that room is, in some way, a parental figure, which adds emotional depth to their interactions and the stories being shared. Long Que has his son Long Xiao. YBY acts as a mentor and father figure to his disciple, Rong Xuan. WKX and ZZS share a bond through Cheng Ling. The story that is being told by Long Que cause heartbreak to WKX and YBY about their parents/kid. It shows how messy but full of love these relationships are, and how they shape these characters.

In regards to comments about your opinions of characters, that's just part of watching reactors. We're all different people with different likes, dislikes, and experiences that influence our feelings about certain characters. Yes in some cases your opinion will change about a character as more is revealed about them, such as with Long Xiao. But in other cases there is the possibility of you liking (or disliking) a character a lot more than someone else does, or deciding on a favourite character at the end of the series that isn't someone else's favourite, and that is normal and just part of being human. I hope any such comments don't make you feel downhearted or colour your opinion of certain characters. I, for one, really enjoy getting to see which characters you are drawn to and why, even when those are not the same characters I've had similar thoughts and feelings about. The moment between Wen Ke Xing and Zhou Zishu, all while Long Que is talking about his painful past, definitely distracts you a little from the pain Long Jiao went through. But the looks between Wen Ke Xing and Zhou Zishu 😍 Zhao Jing sauntering in with his older brother's memorial tablet and the lighting in that room definitely add a malevolent vibe. It's an interesting mirror to the scene of Gao Chong before the memorial tablets. When I first watched this I was right with Ye Bai Yi about Long Que continuing his story 😆 Then getting to see Ye Bai Yi interrupt by ranting and raving about his disciple is such an interesting facet of his character. It shows, even as a boomer, he can be a little childish. But I did worry so much, like you, that Long Que would just croak before he could relate his memory of the past to them. Completely agree with you that the casting team did an amazing job at casting actors to look like their older counterparts. And they also chose well on who to play Rong Xuan (and certain micro expressions used) to make the viewer fall into the same trap as Zhou Zishu of believing Wen Ke Xing is Rong Xuan's son. This episode really is ALL the backstory. I love that they give us it in flashback form. But I especially love the way that they show us a different side of the story between Rong Xuan and the Glazed Armour. And the way it all circles round to giving us a more cohesive set of events than we've previously seen through glimpses of the past makes it all the more heart-breaking. Especially given how many of those gathered together so happily in the beginning are now dead 😭 Seeing Ye Bai Yi shed a tear for his disciple is what tore at my heart the most in this episode. Long Que talked so much about Rong Xuan's regret this episode. But the biggest regret shown was Ye Bai Yi's regret that Rong Xuan didn't realise Ye Bai Yi kept such a martial art away from him for good reason 🥺 Even with that, it's Gong Jun's silent acting with only minute actions and facial movements, alongside just how expressive his eyes are, that left me absolutely stunned this episode. The other actors are all amazing, but it isn't often that an actor can make you feel every bit of emotional pain and shock their character is feeling in that moment yet Gong Jun manages to do just that this episode.
