Thank you for the comment and kind words! I really enjoyed this episode, despite the instant heartbreak! And yes, the PACING! I really did jinx Smith, and I feel awful for it! He really was Anno’s version of Vash! Or did Nightow draw from Anno’s work, here? Hmmmmm! But yeah, I’m glad for what time we got of Noriko with him! Now…sushi from a vending machine? Yeah…not sure I’d go for that either! ;)

I love how Anno does sci-fi and what he chooses to show us and keep secret - and yeah, the “romance” between Smith and Noriko was handled so well with what was shown and not shown! I’m all about it, especially how it’s handled for a short series! Thank you for the comment!

Love that we got the crossover with Amano’s Speech Competition 😆 “That’s the laugh of a man who is going to die!” How could you jinx him this way?! 🤣 Really enjoy Smith and absolutely agree he definitely has some Vash-like mannerisms. Glad that Noriko got to meet him and love how the show presented them becoming friends with just a few minutes of screen time. 🥰 One thing – potentially shelf-stable sushi (?) on a ship in deep space? I’m not sure I’d personally go for it (sci-fi rules be damned). 😆 Looking forward to next week! 💙

2025-06-01 07:13:08 +0000 UTCIf it makes you feel better, the science in this is all based around the theory of "space ether" which had been long disproven by the time this came out. One thing I love about this show is how unrelentingly WEIRD it is. It seems to be a show about space robots, but then we have our first space battle without showing any of the battle. Our hero loses her crush, not only without being able to help him, but she doesn't even see it happen. And what is a Gunbuster? Will we find out before the end of the show? It's already halfway over!

2025-05-30 16:29:28 +0000 UTC-Shy brown haired main character with an absent parent. Check. -Serious mission focused blue haired girl who would do whatever is required of her. Check. -Hot blooded redhead westerner that wants everyone to know she's the queen bee. Check. -Grey haired boy that's introduced and dies in a single episode and only lives long enough mess with the potential love triangle and to give the main character their bisexual awakening instead. Check. Once you see see it, it really is kind of hard ignore who made this.
