[drawing] Forest tree frog (big-eyed frogs)

I released the Wallpaper post a few days ago, so you may have seen the still illustration first.
It's a simpler design than the frogs I've drawn so far.
I added some movement to them to make them feel more like frogs.

It's more fun to watch because it moves. It takes some time to make... but it is always worth it. As you know, we live in a world overflowing with AI-generated content. What should I say, if the Internet used to be called an ocean of information, these days the Internet feels like swimming in garbage.
I used to just doodle whatever came to mind, but now, I try to think more deeply before making and put a lot of thought into each drawing. Social media thesedays algorithms demand quantity over quality from artists, so this may be a backwards way of thinking for the times. But this is how I approach drawings these days 🤔

The ruby-eyed tree frog (Leptopelis uluguruensis) is probably the most famous among them. Of all the frogs I drew this time, I only knew this one before drawing it.
chose Leptopelis family because I find their families all fascinating and I love to draw lesser-known animals that I haven't drawn yet.
Some of these frogs can vary in color, and some of them are often green when young and turn brown when they grow up.

In animating, I used both a character-based approach and a realistic approach.
For example, the way the frog closes its eyes was expressed based on real frogs. The public may find the transparent eyelids a bit scary, but I really like this 🥹 It's so amazing... I've seen so many videos of frogs blinking their eyes. I can watch it forever and never get tired of it.

So, for example, a frog with its eyes closed feels like this....
But to us, it just looks like a frog with a weird expression.
So here, I added a little cartoonish expression.

This frog will probably look more comfortable to us than the half eye frog above 😂

Isn't the red above the Ghostly Tree Frog's eyes just so pretty?

I made the pupils round to make them look cute, but these frogs have vertical pupils. I had to express this in at least one of them...!

I thought it would be cute if at least one of the twelve frogs shook its butt, but when I drew it, it seemed a bit... subtle and could be misleading 😅 And most of the frogs' movements were not that big, so it stand out too much.

So I changed it to 24 frames, into a stretching pose. Like doing a plank.
It may still stand out, but I think it's funny and It's okay for one or two to strike a funny pose. Let's say there are about a dozen people gathered together. There will definitely be one person who wants to stand out from the others. This frog is one of those frogs 😆

Personally, I love the froglet stage so much that I always try to include it when I draw frogs.
I'll update some of them on giphy tomorrow so you can search for pikaole+frog gifs and use them ðŸ¤
- I think some of them need to edit more.. add phrases that can be used in messages 🤔
Hmm.. maybe I can make a reptiles + amphibians pack for the iMessage app?
pikaole's reptiles and amphibians seem too long, what about pikaole's herptiles? There's a word called herptiles, but I'm not sure if it's used often. If you have any good ideas, please comment!
