Lalo didn't care who went, the goal was to draw Gus's men away from the laundry. Gus figured this out when Kim told him that Saul "talked Lalo out of it" Gus knew that Lalo would never change part of the plan if it was truly an important part of the plan.

2025-05-05 22:16:14 +0000 UTCIt has been theorised that the fly in Breaking Bad (a symbol of guilt) is actually the spirit of Howard haunting those in the lab, Walter in particular 😂 Lalo laughing and smiling until the end! Such a fitting end to his character, and the only way Gus could really beat him was out of sheer luck. Both of them were cunning in their preparation, but ultimately it came down to literal shots in the dark. In regards to Lalo's plan, I think Kailyn nailed it in that Lalo simply wanted a distraction and if it actually mattered to him who was meant to go, he wouldn't have let them change his mind. Gus recognised this, but I don't think Lalo anticipated that. I think his plan was to find a way in without Gus - as he said on the tape he wanted to "have fun" torturing Gus with Eladio, but he'd shown up and Lalo couldn't refuse that opportunity. I forgot to mention it in the previous episode, maybe someone else did... but Bob Odenkirk actually had a bad heart attack during the Howard death scene while they were on set. They have standby medics on set which saved his life, but had it happened 10 minutes later and he was in his trailer, he'd likely have died. He'd been working out for a movie called Nobody (not sure if you've seen it) and that is truly what made him saveable as he was thankfully in such great shape. Onto the final 5! :D
