Jimmy in S1: "i guess, you expect criminals to be smarter than they are... I dunno, kinda breaks my heart a little bit"
He's always had that soft spot ahaha

It’s funny how Jimmy really feels sorry for the Kettlemans, who have only ever been mean and awful to him, even when he was trying to help them. He really does love criminals lol. As in, he feels genuine compassion and sympathy for them, even when they have done nothing to deserve his kindness. This makes sense because Saul is like the patron saint of criminals lol. Saul pretends like he’s only in it for the money, but this is clearly not the case.
Rewatch the scene in *Hermanos* where Saul delivers Jesse’s money to Andrea, or the final scene between Saul and Walt in *Granite State*. In retrospect, many moments like this read as Saul failing to fully suppress his Jimmyness. I think he genuinely cares about Walt and Jesse in a weird way. He gets attached to his clients, he’s rooting for them because he empathizes with criminals.

One of the reasons I think Jimmy has it out so much for Howard is that deep down he resents that Howard, in a way, played the role of the brother that Chuck actually wanted

Nailed it with Kim. The more bad she does the more good she has to do to make up for it. and yeah the most 'evil' thing Howard has done is probably be unnecessarily hard on Kim when she was working at HHM. The chuck vs jimmy stuff is a bit gray and he's directly expressed regret over not standing up to chuck earlier. What more can he do? Ever since Chuck passed he's seemed more concerned than angry with Jimmy's unhinged reaction to the job offer and he seemed concerned when he heard Kim left her job. He straight up tells her Jimmy needs help. Ironically, his attempt at trying to be helpful was the last straw. Doubt he could even imagine that these two are cartel lawyers now. Overall, he seems like a regular guy and neutral/positive towards jimmy/kim.
