This intro is absolutely heart-breaking. We also in it learn that Chuck is recently separated from Rebecca with Jimmy saying how he'd hope he'd 'mingle with the ladyfolk' So Chuck got divorced just before Jimmy became a lawyer. And their mother died shortly before that. Might be a solid reason as to why Chuck's brain basically snapped & he developed his "condition". Werner is the first person Mike has killed since he revenge-killed the two cops who killed Matty. He'd been doing his best to avoid having to pull that trigger, but finally he had to, and it was someone he was friendly with :( The sort of theme of this episode is people being irredeemable because of their past mistakes. Werner realises he can't return to construction because of his mistake of breaking out. Jimmy realises he won't get reinstated because, just like the young girl at the scholarship meeting, he too is going to be remembered for his mistake. So rather than make it about him, he made it about Chuck and played up the remorse & mourning. I agree with you guys that deep down those are his true feelings. I think there's layers to it. On top is the ignorance he portrays, below that is the anger he holds, below that is his sorrow and all the way at the bottom is his guilt. He's repressing that right to the bottom
