The dialogue is so missable so it probably won’t be picked up unless you’re looking out for it. Though the show does a great job in letting the viewer fill in the gaps themselves and decide whether things happen for Reason A or Reason B despite there usually being a general fan consensus for everything except the Skyler smoking stuff from what I’ve noticed

I think the implication with Skyler smoking is that this is the first time in years that she even considered it. We don’t really know if she smoked during Walt Jr.’s birth however there is dialogue later in the show to suggest otherwise but we really will never know, kind of up to interpretation to believe whatever you want. In general I’m pretty team Skyler so I may be biased

You’re probably right to pity Walt. I mean, that’s probably the healthy and generous position. I have what some might describe as an irrational hatred for Walt, but it seems rational to me. I might be able to pity him if he weren’t so abusive to everyone around him. I pity Jesse for sure, but he’s a more sympathetic character to me. I don’t think Jesse’s parents are necessarily “bad” people, but they don’t know what to do with him. Family dynamics with an addict can be really complicated.
