No Chapters Today Probably

Okay, so today was supposed to be a good day. I was supposed to be getting a new-to-me car from Carvana. So, the car shows up, outside of the delivery window they specified, but it's here. So, hurray!

Only, it shows up without any temporary tags. So, after going through the whole process of dealing with paperwork and giving them my old car, I got to deal with their entirely useless customer disservice department.

Big shocker, they basically said, "Oh, sorry about that. Oh no, there's nothing on the computer screen in my pre-made list of problems, so I can't fix it. What I can do is refer this problem to a person you can't talk to in a department you can't call, and we'll get back to you with an update." Another big shocker, they haven't gotten back to me.

So, third big shocker, I'm super angry. I've got a new car that I can't even take for test drive, which just infuriates me all over again every time I think about it. Needless to say, this is not the right state of mind for writing. If I can get myself back on an even keel, I might be able to do some writing later tonight, but it's 50/50 at best.

It might depend on your area, but I know you are allowed to legally drive with a bill of sale instead of temp tags for up to 30 days.

You may be able to print your temp tags through the state BMV site.

Sorry, its not the same but its sort of the same. Carvana sold you a car that was not legal to operate on the road. That is not okay. It's not on the order of selling artifacts without providence paperwork but they've functionally not discharged the service they told you they were performing and, if I'm reading your situation correctly, is a legitimate BBB complaint.

I would suggest finding the Yelp, Google or BBB review site and outlining your issue. My wife and I once checked our bag at the airport at 1 minute before their cut off deadline. The processing took 2 minutes because the guy was new. Veteran told us it was past the deadline and couldn't be checked. Dumped our wine, honey and other non security stuff, asked if we'd be refunded. "Absolutely." We were not refunded. The airliner website/hotline ONLY dealt with refunds related to tickets, not add ons like check bags. Wife complained on BBB and like... four months later we got our money back.
