First off, as was mentioned in the pitch for the perk in question the extra chapters that were Patreon-only are on the main site now that the book is over. If any of you didn't enjoy reading them because of the Patreon format, I'd encourage you to have a look there.
With that out of the way, well, we got to the end of the road. Occasionally wondered if I ever would, especially with how intense the last few months got - content-wise I was usually putting up the equivalent of four or five chapters instead of two a week, at least over the last stretch.
It's been wild seeing A Practical Guide to Evil go from a rough map and a bunch of names in a notebook when I was a teenager to what it's become now, and I owe that transition in large part to the support of you folks on Patreon.
It's your help that allowed me to go into writing full time, and to be honest so many people being willing to pitch in financially for stuff I wrote helped quell doubts when I had them. The Guide was my first major work as an author, and we went on that journey together.
In a word, thanks. I hope you got as much out this as I have.
To close this, a few announcements as the title promised,
Most of you should be aware of the existence of my next project, Pale Lights. I'll be making a more in-depth pitch for it closer to the release, but until then it does have the first two chapters up as a teaser. Here's the link https://palelights613694448.wordpress.com
Before that starts, though, I’ll be taking a longer break than usual – more precisely, six months. The 26th of August will be when it begins again and I’ll be putting my Patreon in vacation mode until then.
To end on a vaguer note, while I cannot get into details at the moment there are things in the works so don’t be surprised if there’s another announcement made in the coming months. While I’m aware this seems pointlessly mysterious , there's good reasons for it and I'm sure you'll enjoy the surprise.
Oh! And one last note. I'll be having an AMA on the Discord server for the Guide on Saturday the 5th. It should start at 1PM EST, and end 3-ish. Pop in if you want to ask something, or even just have a look. (The Guide subreddit has an way way to join the server if you're looking for one.)

Thank you so much for this series. I took a break to reread from the beginning, so im not caught up, but i'd feel remiss if I didn't chime in to say how amazing this ride has been.

I can't think of another story where I stayed up just to wait for the latest chapter to come out. It's been a wild ride, reading Cat's journey from when she was a girl dreaming of making the world better to actually achieving her dream, and I loved every bit of it. Enjoy your break, and all the best in your future projects.

A Practical Guide has become my favorite web novel series, and one of my favorite fantasy series overall. You managed to marry the best aspects of the Malazan Book of the Fallen with the character interactions of a Sanderson novel. I can't wait to see your writing again in six months! I’m really looking forward to Pale Lights. Are you going to change how things work with regards to patreon and chapters? My suggestion would be to do a staggered release whereby you begin posting on patreon a week earlier than public or something like that.
