The first entry into Rule 35 month is here, and it's the katana swinging, Mustang driving, Torture Dancing badass heroine from Sturgill Simpson's Sound and Fury! She doesn't have a name so I'm gonna call her... Yumiko. Sure, why not. Sound and Fury is an album movie from the country music artist Sturgill Simpson. If you've ever heard of the flick Heavy Metal, this is basically the same concept, but cranked up to 11 with some of the flashiest animation you've ever seen. It almost feels like an SNL Stefon sketch. This movie has everything-obese drug addicts, musclebound gun bunnies, katanas that are also robots... I had an absolute blast making these images, particuarly the last one. I think it might be my best work yet. You can watch Sturgil Simpson's Sound and Fury on Netflix, and I highly encourage you to do so, it's fantastic.
