Whiskey Wednesday is back this week! Now that it has gotten cooler, I have been enjoying a sip of whiskey to warm me up. This bottle was a kind gift from a Patreon that tried Uncle Nearest 1856 on a trip to Nashville Tennessee and thought I would enjoy it. I definitely did!
It's an American Whiskey made in Tennessee using a combination of corn & rye and aged in American charred oak barrels. It is also 100 proof, so you need to take it easy with this one! The name honors Nathan Green, who was known as Uncle Nearest to friends and family, and was the first African-American master distiller on record in the USA. It has a good story, so I will include the link below if you'd like to know more.
Cheers to a wonderful & relaxing evening 🥃
Notes from Master of Malt:
Nose: Buttery vanilla and brown sugar, mixed with soft sultana and cinnamon sweetness.
Palate: Caramelised nuts, oat cookies, more brown sugar, sandalwood, authentic corn hints and a hint of cut grass.
Finish: Lingering mint leaf and milk chocolate notes, with a final touch of spicy oak.
