Holiday Cheer

We are coming up on the last few days until Christmas.  Can you believe it? Are you ready? There are a lot more decorations up in my neighborhood this year and it sure makes it look festive. What are some of your Christmas Eve or Christmas traditions? Any movies you like to watch or albums you like to listen to? The classics are always great, but I also love watching "The Holiday", "The Family Stone" & "Love Actually". One of my favorite Christmas songs is Andy Williams "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" and I also love "A Rat Pack Christmas" album."

Speaking of music, some of you, who have known me for awhile, know that I thought about singing professionally when I lived in Los Angeles. I would sing at weddings, funerals and events for friends and family and auditioned for a few things. I always thought it would be really exciting to work at a music label like Capitol Records, that was just down the street from where I was living at the time, so I could get my foot in the door. I quickly learned that there are many more talented vocalists out there than myself, and I realized that I enjoyed singing for fun more than I did professionally.

So, I thought it might be fun to record a couple Christmas songs for you, but I wasn't sure if it would be corny or presumptuous that you'd even want to hear them. But, I'm throwing it out there since I love to sing and thought it would be something a little different that you may enjoy.

Poll Question: Would you like to hear me sing some Christmas songs?

I can't believe no one mentioned Christmas Story. I love the story of Ralphie and his pursuit of the Red Rider BB gun. On this website who could forget the major award. I think Jordan is the inspiration for the leg lamp. I actually worked in Higbee's department store in Dec 1982 and they filmed the movie in the store in Jan 1983. I just missed it.

We do Nikolaustag which is a German tradition on December 6th where St. Nikolaus brings small gifts and candy and puts them in the children’s shoes. In America we commercialized this fest day and move it to coincide with the the birth of Christ. There are a few odd holiday movies we love as well; both Home Alone movies although the second one is better and Trading Places with Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin.

You’re in Vegas I am sure you have someone in your circle to do a duet of Baby It’s Cold Outside.

Gregg

Yes I love hearing you sing !!!

Nice that you like the movie. Bill Murray is really great! I think the names of the three should be known to my family. But I have the advantage of being a film enthusiast, so I know a lot more names, dates, etc. Rat Pack in German could sound really weird ... You have a sense of humor, that's what I like about a woman. And I just knew you had a sense of humor.

I forgot about "Scrooged". That is a good one ! That's so interesting that your family wouldn't know what the Rat Pack is. They would translate rat pack and it would sound like a very bad thing, not a musical group! πŸ˜‚

Point 1: I love Christmas movies. Classic and modern. The latter especially "Scrooged" with a great Bill Murray and "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation". Simply good again and again! You like the Rat Pack, I think it's great. Of course you live in Vegas and maybe that's part of it. Especially because nobody in my family knows what the Rat Pack is ... Point 2: I would really like to hear you sing. You have a few small audio snippets at Patreon and I was just amazed when I heard your voice for the first time. You just couldn't have sounded otherwise than just like that, so sweet, so cute, so that I would really be willing to do anything for a kind word from you. So yes, a song from you would be wonderful Jordan!

Love singing it is a way to the soul. I also love to sing and have thought about recording for YouTube. I like your movies and I normally add White Christmas and A Christmas Carol (with George C Scott). I love the classic Christmas songs. Looking forward to hearing you sing. ❀️

Your talents never cease Jordan! Love some of the classics noted above. Also a sucker for Charlie Brown Christmas! But have also found joy and laughter in new classics. Just watched Elf, The Grinch and home alone. And not sure if you know the lyrics to the theme from The Polar Express but love that movie and song as well. ☺️😘

Jordan, would love to hear you sing Christmas songs. That would make the season seem even more festive. One tradition I have every year (except when social distancing) is to go with friends to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" at an old theatre in the town square of the suburb where I live. The theatre is a throwback to the experiences in the 30s and 40s. Also love to watch the Charlie Brown Christmas Show and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer....I know, that is for kids, but I love those old shows. Also love the "Christmas Story "marathon every year on TNT, although watching it this year will be bittersweet due to it being the favorite movie of a dear friend that passed away recently. One of my favorite Christmas CDs is "In the Christmas Mood" by big band leader Glenn Miller. Also, "Christmas in Dixie" by Alabama, "Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" by Andy Williams, "Run Rudolph Run" by Chuck Berry and "All I Want for Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey, and "Feliz Navidad." For my favorite off beat Christmas song, "The Twelve Redneck Days of Christmas" by Jeff Foxworthy (it's a southern thing...LOL).

Christopher

Yes, this would be a most excellent Christmas present:)
