I wanted to do a bourbon today, so I picked Yellowstone Select Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. As I write this, I realize I forgot to give you all a heads up earlier in the week to let you know what I was going to sample. Sorry about that! I will try to be better about in the weeks that follow.
Yellowstone Select is a from the Limestone Branch Distillery and features a blend of 4 and 7 year old hand picked bourbons. The original Yellowstone Bourbon was started by J. B. Dant who teamed up with D. H. Taylor and J. T. Williams and founded the Yellowstone Distillery and bottled Yellowstone bourbon sometime in the late 1800s.
In 2010, two brothers, Steve & Paul Beam, descendants of Dant and the legendary Beam family got together to start Limestone Branch with the desire to restore the Yellowstone brand to its former glory. When you purchase a bottle of this whiskey, a portion of the proceeds goes to the National Parks Conservation Association. How great is that? We can all feel good about helping the environment, as we sip our whiskey. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Notes from Master of Malt:
Nose: Dry oak, menthol, dark fruit. Subtle smokiness develops after a minute.
Palate: Rather creamy with plenty of vanilla fudge notes. A burst of herbaceous spice appears on the mid-palate.
Finish: Lasting cardamom and nutmeg heat.
