I felt like trying a Bourbon this week and when I was deciding which one, I saw that 1870 Old Forester Original Batch had a taste of pumpkin spice. How perfect for this time of year! Sipping this, I was feeling a bit like Elizabeth Taylor in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". She's such a classic and sexy icon. The perfect inspiration for tonight's photo.
I’ve always enjoyed bourbon, and I quickly remembered why. That sweet beginning and that longer, warmer finish. I find that Irish Whiskeys tend to have a smoother finish and aren’t quite as strong.
In 1870 George Garvin Brown created Old Forester on Louisville, KY’s, famous Whiskey Row. In honor of that milestone year in bourbon history, Old Forester 1870 Original Batch was created. The first expression in the Old Forester Whiskey Row series.
1870 Original Batch echoes George Garvin Brown’s original batching process. Back then, Brown batched barrels obtained from three distilleries to create a consistent flavor profile. To emulate that process today, barrels are selected from three warehouses, each barrel originating from a different day of production, with a different entry proof and a different age profile. The three expressions of Old Forester are then batched together and minimally filtered to craft Old Forester 1870 Original Batch.
Cheers to a great evening 🥃
