Sorry for delay. Calistus (Mouflon ram) is freedman. It means that Calistus was a slave , but has been released from slavery (In our case He has been freed by his owner Quintus Fabricius (Senator Bear) ). He has almost the same privileges as a citizen. In his particular situation Calistus is the right -hand man of Quintus Fabricius (Senator Bear). Sometimes a master could make some transactions, trades etc throug his freedman (depends of how good relationships between former slave and his master) because some business had bee prohibited for senators. He definetely knows how bad to be a slave under the rule of such a rude master Like Quintus Fabricius, but while Calistus is dominant under the slaves in the domus he can act very rude with them. It is psychology.
