The Ides of February

A quick progress update:

I've still focused on Leaderboard, and about halfway—I hope—through implementing The Hunting Grounds, Bidi-Essem's premiere night life hot spot.  It's where you go to pick up somebody to toy with for the evening—or where you go to be picked up and toyed with for the evening.  There's an endless flow of people, all of them out to get off in their own particular idiom.

The idea here is that The Hunting Grounds will serve up procedurally-generated encounters such that players can amuse themselves here while the rest of the mostly scripted game gets built up.  This may sound simple, or it may sound complicated, but let me assure you, it's way more complicated than it sounds.  I say this not to brag, but to share my enthusiasm for this really cool problem I get to crack.

I'm aiming to have every character theoretically dommable and subbable.  Each character enters the game with their own agenda for the night, but you can... convince them otherwise.  There are many different ways to convince them, all of which may succeed or fail, and every success and every failure might potentially get reported to the Leaderboard.  This is not a simple tree that would get stale after a few plays.  There's four zones in the Hunting Grounds with different stuff to do at each, and you can move between them with each character, all with the goal of getting them where you want them... and there being more than one result that you might be angling for.

Thus far I've got the basic architecture down, plus the beginnings of the interactions.  It took a full day to code out introducing yourself and getting their name in return (there's so many variations to take into account!).  I've since moved on to the scintillating territory of buying them drinks (which reminds me, you can totally get drunk now, it's hilarious.).  Somewhere in there I overhauled the description code, which now reads like prose and not a laundry list of body parts and clothing choices.

There's a lot happening, and I'm really excited to see how it all ends up!

So hang tight, pervs: the nightlife is coming.  In the mean time, try not to get pinned under your own enormous breasts.
