Wee John is almost always sitting in scenes because he has bad knees. (His actor also does and it was one of his disability accomodations that he needed, so they worked it into the script to allow him to be sitting in most scenes)

Fun fact: They also voiced Hunter, the genderbent version of Huntress Wizard in Fionna and Cake. Hunter is actually a nonbinary version of Huntress Wizard rather than a male one which I thought was a really cool choice to do.

I have been wanting you to since it originally aired, but it never ended up on voting polls before XD You don't need any knowledge on pirates to enjoy it, but some historical knowledge makes things cooler. A lot of the characters are based on real pirates. Stede Bonnett actually existed, though obviously we are taking our own spin on his story and this isn't a biography on any level whatsoever. XD

2024-05-22 02:47:45 +0000 UTClookin forward to it but will wait until we are at least at ep 4.......lol, not that I do not love and enjoy Stede, my sweet well meaning, sometimes bitchy queen in every episode. So many characters to love. Lucius is one of my favs (after the obligotary two mains)......his delivery and humor cracks me up. Jim is a fucking icon and who I aspire to be when I grow up (in my fourties, btw.), Frenchie, Buttons and Karl and Olivia, Jackie.......I even like/hate the brothers (bullies) because they play very well. And Izzy, despite everything.......the actor is amazing, timing and delivery and accent are gold and one has to wait for development a bit longer. So much to look forward to.....and the music.....the moment when "The Chain" plays........iconic.

2024-05-22 01:51:31 +0000 UTCThis show is up there with Good Omens for me, beautifully written and acted, funny and emotional and such a lovely deconstruction of toxic masculinity. I think I watched season 1 like, 4 times after it came out and continue to pester folks to watch it to this day.

I hyperfixated on this show for the longest time, I even bought a model boat to put together. I love pirates, so this show was easy for me to get into but as a lot of people will mention, episodes 1-3 people had a hard time getting past. Even I wasn't sure what the big deal about this show was the first time I watched until I got to episode 4, now as someone who has rewatched this show at least 60 times or more, it's special and I'm so upset about it not being renewed for season 3.

Granted, that’s as far as accurate as this show will get mainly because there is so little information on him or on another main character (that will show up soon don’t worry 😉) so it’s a play on somewhat real events.

2024-05-21 16:05:40 +0000 UTCThere’s a very good reason that pirate ships were historically run democratically, which was the crew could kill the captain and not be executed for it, unlike navy ships, so pirate crews were always paid much more fairly and treated better than Navy crews

Some people say it takes a couple episodes to get into this show but personally i loved it from the start! love hearing all your thoughts on who the love interests could be. Excited to see more :D

He is also invented some things, and met some people, that you find out later in the show, but it has some actual historical background:)

I was skeptical going into this show when I first watched, but the sprinkled-in flashbacks and the seriousness with which it treats Stede’s emotions and softness/kindness really stood out to me. Yes, I started it for gay pirates, but I stayed for the humor and genuine heart that is at OFMD’s core. I’m so glad you enjoyed the first ep already and I think you will absolutely love what’s in store!!! :)

The first three eps take a bit to take off, but most of us agree that once you get to ep 4, it starts to get REALLY good (and it gets progressively gayer from there!). The first season of OFMD came out between S1 and S2 of Good Omens and I hyperfixated on it WAYYY more than I ever did for GO if that’s any indication (even though I adore GO). Like it was seriously an “I couldn’t sleep well for weeks” kind of hyperfixation lmao
