"The Ball"~Good Omens S2 Ep5 FULL Reaction

Comments

Unfair that traductors don't translate in french subtitles

Cezaltina Charline

i should have read your text before trying to explain the seamstress guild. Forgot it was a guild.

Anais Winter

if I remember correctly Seamstresses were the covername for sex workers in Terry Pratchetts Discworld Series so they can´t be prosecuted by City Guards. They were just harmless seamstresses, so it is propably a nod to that. But my memory could be sketchy.

Anais Winter

Ms. Rossignol btw ist translated to Mr. Nightingale. These suckers miss no chance for an easter egg. And watch only Tennant Who if you want, maybe a short video about season 1 (because of Bad Wolf, will make sense then and in later Tennant seasons) but there are enough short summaries of season 1. He is brilliant and they have brilliant episodes....also a few meh or okay ones but which series doesnt? The Fez in the Magic Shop references the Doctor Who after Tennant who loved to wear a Fez. I really like Matt Smith Doctor as well (he is either goofy or in very rare cases scary, like Tennant) to the point where writing team changed and while still good there were a few duds. Peter Capaldi has a few outstanding good episodes and makes a heartbreaking Doctor (and Missy, my girl.....sorry)......then the writing gets really bad, sadly with the female Doctor the writing stayed bad and they blamed it on her an "wokeness" and the new specials (with Tennant, then introducing the new Doctor (black man, played by a gay actor ......you imagine the reaction). He was wearing a skirt and dancing in a nightclub when we meet him in his own season and so far he is magnificent. Ncuti Gatwa plays him so wonderfully and sweet (every Doctor is always a bit different in a few mannerisms but not big stuff) and people shred the poor man. Maybe if you liked Tennant, give the new one a watch, just to boost the ratings. The first three episodes were weird, then campy (with a drag queen as a villain in a good way, but also here you can imagine the reaction) and then the third was so tense that I was on the edge of m seat and screaming in panic if something happened. The old writers and showrunners are back and it shows.....they wanted to make Doctor Who exactly this way because Doctor has always been a paragon of queerness. First pansexual character, who is lovely and gets his own series..........okay....I think I overdid it. And btw. the outfit is stunning. To bad it irritated you so much. You looked wonderful.

Anais Winter

Omg I want Morgan's reactions to Staged now, I'm sure they would love it 😊

Theo

So very sorry to hear how people have been treating you lately. I find your reaction to be wonderful and I love how emotional you get. I’ve been hyper focused on this show since season 2 came out, reading fan fiction, stalking Neil Gaiman on tumblr and watching reactions (yours is my favorite so far). I took notes while watching so I have comments. -They both speak all languages except for some reason Aziraphale is bad in French (the language of love) and took lesson from Mr Rossignol, rossignol is the French word for NIGHTINGALE! -Whenever Neil Gaiman was asked about season two he would reply “Wait and see”. The fandom knows how irritating that is. -The prostitutes in Ankh Morpork are members of the Seamstress guild. This is a reference to Terry Pratchett’s very awesome discworld books. (Really, if you like reading at all you should check them out) -Keep in mind that the ball is Aziraphales idea of getting people together. He worked very hard to make it happen and even gave away books! I don’t think he did it for Maggie and Nina. He did it for himself and Crowley. He was ready for romance but unfortunately Crowley was distracted by the demons. For tiny comfort, look at their hands while they’re dancing. See how they barely touch the hands of the other dancers but almost hold hands when it’s the two of them.

Zolveig

I actually think that Crowley and Aziraphale both do things for each other in equal measure. Crowley’s things might just be more obvious but Aziraphale does give him the holy water, which is not only very risky and forbidden but it’s also against his will as he worries that Crowley will use it to kill himself. Crowley rescues Aziraphale but as Aziraphale states rescuing him “makes him (Crowley) so happy”. So I think that Aziraphale is very capable of “rescuing” himself (he tells Nina that he makes his own plans) but he lets himself being rescued by Crowley because it makes Crowley happy. Although that is not a very obvious act, it is quite a big thing to do for someone else. It also means that Crowley does not simply rescue Aziraphale because Aziraphale is indeed in dire need of rescuing, Crowley also does it because it is what he needs for his own happiness so it’s not a completely selfless act on his part. He does it to make himself feel better and Aziraphale lets him do it to make him happy. So I don’t think that Crowley really does much more for Aziraphale than the other way around. They both do things for each other, just in different ways.

I saw GO s1 in january 2020. I swear that after the madness of s2 confirmation when nobody expected it, and a total of three years and a half waiting... watching s2 last summer, this episode and the final one, THEM DANCING an OTHER THINGS ... was like a crazy fever dream!!! I am living everything again through your reactions aaaaaa <3

A little about Doctor Who, because it's a really good series and it's worth to watch for David Tennant, but not only that. You don't have to watch the classic series to understand what's happening, just start with the first season of the series reboot, which was released in 2005. But you have to start with season one of the new series to avoid being confused about season 2, where David Tennant appears as the 10th Doctor. He is in season 2, 3 and 4, appears in one of the special episodes of season 7 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary and in the special episodes on the occasion of the 60th anniversary. And I really think that it's worth giving a chance to others than David Tennant, because maybe David Tennant shines as an actor, Alex Kingston, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman and many others are also deep in my heart because of Doctor Who ❤️ Of course, I will also admit that the Doctor is my favorite representation of genderfluid people

Dany Cormac

Without a doubt your reactions to Good Omens has been the best I have seen and I am so sorry you have been going through so much lately. I hope one day you will take the time to see David Tennant and Michael Sheen in "Staged" - there are 3 seasons that are absolutely amazing (I'm not sure anyone has mentioned it yet - but they play fictionalized versions of themselves) Their chemistry playing opposite each other is incredible!

HeatherB

Honestly agree, people are just choosing them to whack on because they’re lgbt. I watch plenty of male reactors who have cried at helluva and hazbin but no no, just the queer person

Citycrows

Usually a silent watcher but wanted to jump in to say I'm so sorry to hear what's been going on for you lately. You seem like such a lovely person and your reactions are wonderful. Truly the best reactor to Good Omens I've seen. I love this show and your reactions are like watching it all over again. I love seeing someone fanperson over my favorite ineffable husbands. I really hope things get better soon for you. You don't deserve any of the hate.

Rylie Mohrdieck

Oh wild, I guess David mumbled that line a little hard.

Katiefrog217

That's incorrect. Neil clarified that it was "You don't dance". The initial subtitles for the episode were very awful, it was an entire thing.

Oz

Just rewatched. On the blackboard in Nina's coffee shop, there's a tiny heart with C + A in it

RJ

Just for clarity Morgan, Crowley said "WE don't dance"

Katiefrog217

Feeling numb at the end there ya? that's a typical everyday thing for me lol

Shade Wolf

Im glad im not the only one

Shade Wolf

Sex work and the Vagogynist nonsense certainly scrambled your brain here :3

Ashley Silver

Re the song over the end credits, it seems to be a mashup of the Good Omens theme (played in the Hot Club jazz style) and, as might be expected, "Every Day". I guess Azi would think it was "modern"

RJ

Agree about Azi - the way he made Crowley give up the car and stay to look after Jim and the Bookshop, or in pushing Crowley out the door to check on Maggie and Nina. Regards speaking French, I think that Azi is capable of speaking fluent French, in the same way he speaks 'all the other languages' of the world - but I suspect there is a comment here on how the French stereotypically react to other people, particularly the English, speaking French.

RJ

I really love your outfit and I totally understand your conflicted emotions, also I love your reactions bc you show those emotions.😊 I'm really sorry for what happend to you and that you had a hard time, you are so nice you don't deserve any of that! ❤️

Adreanne

Thanks so much for the reaction Morgan! Don’t feel bad at all for your feelings at the end of the episode - I totally get how you feel with the ambiguity of the whole ball thing and Aziracrow’s relationship. I’m excited to see your reaction to the season finale though - it will definitely be impactful in multiple ways (don’t wanna spoil haha)! Also I’m so sorry about what you’ve had to go through the past couple weeks. Bullies like that boil my blood and make me want to beat them up (and I’m a pacifist). One of the things I love about your reactions is how emotionally genuine they are - all the parts you tear up at are parts that I tear up at too! It’s nice to know someone else out there cares as much about queer media as I do :)

KJ Benson

*Just my opinion I don't know if this is canon* When Crowley says "He's just an angel... I know" I take it to mean that he means Capital-A Angel but he knows Nina will take it as a pet name like baby, sweetheart, angel, sugar. He's saying he knows how it sounds to her, especially since they were just discussing how Nina thinks they're together

Alex

I can't believe u know the funny farm song !

Elisa H.

There is this running gag with doctor who and fez's so the whovian reaction (as shown in my reaction video) to Tennant putting on a fez was ...*clears throat * "OMG A FEZ , HES WEARING A FEZ! "

Elisa H.

Did anyone else catch that Harry Potter Reference? 🤣 Because David Tennant had a role in the 4th Harry Potter movie.

Miriam 090985

Lord I’m not ready for the next one. Side note Morgan get your head out of the gutter 🤣

ShadowDust

Ok gonna preface this by saying I love Aziraphale, he is a sweetheart. BUT. He, like all angels, is *profoundly self-centered*. It comes from that feeling of self-righteousness that they are incapable of doing wrong. He does know better, on the surface, but he still hasn't fully internalized that just because he is *good* doesn't mean that he is *right*. Morgan mentioned how insulting it is that he ignored the French shopkeeper's fluency in English just because he wanted to show off his own hard-earned French. But even more telling, back in Ep 2 when he talked to Maggie he learned 1) that Maggie loves Nina and 2) that Nina ALREADY HAS A PARTNER. We as the audience know Lindsey is kinda horrible but he didn't know that and didn't even consider it might be inappropriate to try to force Nina and Maggie together. For all that he is "bad" Crowley is much better at understanding and empathy. He didn't force Nina and Maggie to do anything, just encouraged them to be near each other (and wet.) It makes me think that Aziraphale won't lose that unthinking, unintentional arrogance until/unless he does Fall.

-N-

Neil Gaiman answered the Eric question. Someone asked if Eric was the same demon, or many demons, and if he carried on the other demons memories. and Neil Gaiman replied. "I wonder that sometimes too!" Hahaha, so yeah there is no answer. But Eric was an invention by Terry Pratchett who loved the idea of there being a bunch of identical demons for Hastur to kill.

Bea N

Looking very dapper indeed Morgan! The commitment is appreciated!

Emily M

The demon that keeps dying is "Eric" "Eric the disposable demon". There are lots of Erics and they are all named Eric. As for Azi needing rescuing. Neil confirmed that Azi never really ever needed saving, not from the Bastille or the church in WWII, nor did he need Crowley to miracle away that stain from his coat. But he loves it. He did genuinely get himself into these situations because he is a naive sweet bean, but he is plenty powerful and would probably have done something last minute had Crowley not been there. But this is part of the game they play. If you want to get into another rabbit hole, after you've watched the show, you should look into the real-life friendship between David Tennant and Michael Sheen. They bonded so much after season 1 of Good Omens, they are practically one big family now.

Bea N

No one is, worse knowing what's gonna happen and having to wait though

Phoenix Mackenzie

Oh god I'm already so damn hyped for the 6th and last episode. Damn it's all hitting even harder than the last 2 times I've watched these episodes. Your comments have given me sm stuff to think about and put a lot of things in a whole new perspective. Thank you for your beautiful reactions. Just- thank you. You made a lot of my days so much better. Thanks.

Awzrael

A few random thoughts: 1) it isn't clear if Eric the bunny-eared demon has been whacked many times or if there are just a lot of demons of that model. Remember in Season 1 there were 3 of him and they got killed one at a time. 2) Vol-au-vents are fancy French party food. 3) While dancing, Crowley ("not a lad") took the lady's role while Aziraphale acted the gentleman. 4) Mrs. Sandwich the "seamstress" is an homage to a character in Terry Pratchett's Discworld books.

-N-

I’ll say it wasn’t just you that reacted to the line, I’ll come quietly 🤭😂🥵

Lisa Harris

So not ready for the finale.

Kayla Ryan

The scene where Aziraphale and Crowley enter the Magic Shop is actually the first scene being shot for Season 2 so Michael's and David's reaction is genuine. 😁💚 And the demon with the bunnyear-hair is called Eric.😊
